This is really getting on my nerves.
I had long great lucid dreams about 2,5 years ago. For something like half a year in a row I just kept doing reality checks and writing DJ. But then it stopped, and changed to be like this: I quit, have a couple months off, then start again with exitement, after 1 to 4 weeks I have an LD and then something, like a big project, or just plain laziness, makes me quit again. I keep trying again and again, but I just can´t keep on it, I always quit. Every time I tell myself, this time I will succeed and keep on it. But I always fail.
Not anymore! No matter what. I will start LDing, and will not quit. I´ll restart my DJ tomorrow, do reality checks and so on.
I just have to come up with something that keeps me on it. The best thing I can come up with right now, is a DJ right here on ld4all. If I stop updating it, everyone can see that I´ve given up. Yes, that´s what ill do, starting from the next morning!
Do you have any other ideas that could keep on it?
watch out, ever since i tried to lucid dream my sleep patterns are totally destroyed. I usually slept for a good 8 hours but now i need to try to get 5 hours and its so hard. I developed insomnia (where you wake up in the night and can’t go back to sleep). I just want to get back to my old routine even if it means having no dreams at all. x.x.
Good luck bro. A good way to stay motivated is keeping track of your progress. Like a table. Write down the date and write down the number of dreams you were able to recall, number of lucid dreams you had etc.
Don’t be too strict on yourself, it’s not really a big deal if you forget writing in your Dream Journal every now and then; as long as you write in it and practice Reality Checks at least 4-5 days a week it will be perfectly enough, you don’t have to do it every morning.
I agree. Trying to force LD’s usually has a negative effect. Take it lightly! And if you do end up stopping again, I’m sure you’ll pick it back up just like you’ve done until now! I myself have had ups and downs. Just have faith that you are making slow and steady progress, even if subconsciously.
you can come to the LD4all chat and listen to some guys like Wyvern have 5 LDs every night xD it’ll either make you insanely jealous, or interested, or just inspired either way you might not want to drop it anymore. you can also read other lucid dreamers’ journals.
i talk with these people every day and it sort of acts like a motivation refresher for me… makes me not forget. every time i have one, i come there and talk about it. mainly what i’m saying - develop LD friends someone to brag to when you have one! it’s bound to keep you motivated
