False lucid dream?

So I had a dream that I was playing soccer with some people, and all of the sudden I stopped, looked around and said “i’ve had this dream lots of times, i’m dreaming”. As far as I know i’ve never had that dream before. I don’t remember doing any reality checks or anything, and I dont think I had control…? My dream recall isnt great so it might have something to do with that, or maybe I had a really low level of lucidity? I told people in the dream that I was dreaming, and flew for a second. After that I “woke up” into a classroom and I was telling people that I havent seen in years about my lucid dream. So was this one long lucid dream where I had low lucidity, or do I just not remember having control? Maybe it was two normal dreams one after the other? What do you think? Ive never had a lucid dream so it’s hard to tell.

Lucidity can be a fickle thing. In general, if you had that moment of “hey, I’m dreaming” you were lucid. Sometimes with low lucidity it feels like any other dream, you just have that knowledge that you’re in a dream. It also doesn’t help that you might go back and forth between lucid and not. From what you’ve described I think you were lucid, just give it some time and you’ll gain more lucidity and more control.

Sounds to me like you had a False Lucid Dream (FLD) combined with a False Awakening (FA). But like Rhewin (love the new profile pic, btw) what one calls lucid others call normal and vice versa. If you believe you were lucid, chances are it was a LD and an FA.

One way to tell is did you have that “click” where you realize it is a dream or did you merely for a moment consider it all to be a dream. You have to draw the line at where you see it to be an LD or a FLD.

I’m thinking it was a lucid dream with very low lucidity, because tonight I had one and it blew me away. I think it was my first real “you’re in control” LD.

You definitely became lucid but lacked the controll that comes with it, most likely a FLD, and directly after that had a FA. I remember back to my first LD where i had FA after FA after FA, probably 8-10 of them in a 30 min period, sure did help extending the dream for the first time  have no clue why, but that was the only time i had any FAs even since it has been just a dream so it may just be me :meh:

IMO I think you had a LD the first time where you were playing football and then had a FM about having that dream before. (I have FM all the time)
Then you lost control as you did not plant your consciousness into the dream by performing reality checks or touching the environment and then sunk out of low level lucidity and appeared back into a normal dream.
Some videos on youtube will explain how low or high you were (what layer you were in 0,1,2,3 or 4) Check out Reece Jones 87 on youtube for help on the layers of lucidity and how to reach higher layers next time.

Sorry about you not staying lucid for long but I wish you good luck for next time
