Finally outsmarted a false awakening!

My first FA (4 months ago):

I woke up in my bed and went to the bathroom. I tried to switch on the lights but they didn’t work. They do not always work in waking life either, so I thought it was normal. Then I realized that the washing machine was missing and the toilet seat was on the other side of the bathroom. I was wondering that how could I forget that I’ve been renovating the bathroom?? Then I realized that there is something weird going on and just as I was about to get it, I woke up. I was swearing like hell to my stupidity  Since then I only got maybe two very short moments of lucidness.

My second FA (last night):

Yesterday evening I decided to have a lucid dream, my intent being very strong. I put my iPhone’s alarm clock to go off at 4am in order to execute WBTB with the SSILD technique.

In the middle of the night the alarm clock started ringing and I
grabbed my iPhone to put it off. Before I even had a chance to put it off, the ringing stopped. The phone’s screen was black and I tried to restart the phone with no success. I stood up from bed and my girl friend also woke up. At that moment the situation started to feel strange and I decided to do a nose RC. I COULD BREATH!

I became fully lucid and realized it had been a false awakening. The surroundings were so realistic I could not believe my eyes. It actually felt more realistic than waking life itself, which was quite freaky in a way  Then I got too excited again and woke up in my bed. DAMN! The remainder of last night included some very vivid NDs.

How should I prepare myself to be able to stay calm and do the stabilization techniques upon becoming lucid??? I have become lucid some 4 times and each time I’ve only managed to stay in the dream for 1-3 minutes before getting overwhelmed with excitement.

It can take practice sometimes to keep yourself calm when you find yourself lucid at first. As well as setting your intent to become lucid, also set an intent to stay calm when you become lucid. Just work on keeping yourself calm, and you’ll get it eventually. :content:

Rub your hands together!

My first LD I woke up right away as well. Then just a few nights ago I had my second, and sure thing as soon as I became lucid the dream started to go black like tunnel vision, so I rubbed my hands together and shouted “I AM LUCID!”, the dream world automatically came back 10 times as vivid as before! it works man for real.

From my experience in dreaming, you can’t have alot of things on your mind at once. For example if I’m dreaming about driving a car, all I’m thinking about is pressing the gas peddle and steering. Now in real life I think about a million things while I’m driving. So my theory is when you realize your dreaming, your mind is totally fixated on that fact, you become excited, and you wake up BAM! But if you rub your hands together and shout out I AM LUCID, or anything along those lines, your mind is concentrating 100% on staying in the dream and it will do so. It doesn’t have to even be rubbing your hands together it could be anything you want, like jumping up and down, or banging your head off a wall haha, as long as the intent is to increase the vividness of the dream and stay there.
