I don’t believe that this “real name” holds any supernatural, spiritual or any other kind of power; However if you are someone who has learned their alternate name, I think it would be cool to follow up on it in the next LD to see if you end up with the same name. If you don’t that may confirm that it is just a fabrication of your subconscience and doesn’t hold any more power over you than you want it to. If you do end up with the same name…I don’t know what that means…

My true name is Tama and I use it freely becoz I am unafraid of people using it against me becoz nobody I know will call me by it face 2 face even if I ask them 2 I beleive this is becoz people a subconsciously fearing using sum1’s true name now I will ask u 2 remember my true becoz that way I will realize the true power of giving away my own name and i will either laugh at it or challenge it depending upon its strength
I read a book once (forgot what it’s called) that your true name is actually the name of your spirit. Maybe that’s why it should be kept private, if someone calls your true name, they are calling your spirit, and you will involuntarilly do things because you are under your spirit’s control.
The problem I have with this philosophy is that the only people who would have a great impact on your spirit would be those who are more powerful than yourself.
But, if they are already more powerful than you, then they probably don’t need your spirit to push you around.
Hence, it doesn’t really matter. Those less powerful than you can’t do anything with your name, and those more powerful than you don’t need it.
In my last dream a woman (who may be my SG, not sure) called me by my “real name”. I couldn’t remember it for the life of me when I woke up tho.
