First step to a LD? (MILD)

Ok so I joined this forum last night as I came across it whilst looking up about Lucid Dreaming because it seems interesting.

I don’t feel I have time for most methods so tried MILD. For the last month or so I have remembered parts of my dreams but wanted to remember more and most of all become lucid.

So last night I went to bed and used a mantra I saw on this site which was “Next time I dream I will remember the dream”. I said it out loud twice then said it untill I fell asleep. I woke up in the night and fell asleep almost instanty but without really thinking of it I repeated that mantra I used again as I fell asleep.

When I woke up I had remembered two seperate dreams I had and remembered more than I normally would. I made a DJ and am asking questions about why are certain things in my dream how they are.

I feel like the use of the mantra was very successful for my first attempt at using it.

Do you guys think I have taken the first step towards Lucid dreaming and if so have you got any advice?

It took me about 30-40 mins to type up both dreams however I went through it twice to keep it as accurate as possible with as many details as possible although it only takes a minuite or so to read through them both.

Thanks for reading this and all advice is appreciated.

Hi, and welcome !
I think MILD is the most “common” method to LD.
I started using this one and got very good results, plus it’s easier than WILD or WBTB.
Remembering your first dreams can be hard, and take time. I usually spent 30 minutes to write down my first dreams, even if they were short.
You’ll see, keep up like this one week, and it will take half the time it takes now (at least, for me ).
The point is to write your DJ when you wake up. The first thing I think about when I wake up is : “What have I just dreamt about ?”
As you woke up in the middle of the night, a good idea would have to do a WBTB. You stay awake between 30m-1h and do something lucid dreaming related, like going on the forum. Then, use your mantra before going to sleep. Your brain must be saturated with lucid dreaming. This method is one of the most powerful.
If you continue MILD for sometime (depends on the person), repeating your mantra all day long, you should have LDs.
It took me 2 weeks to have my second LD (the first one was “involontary”) just doing MILD, and writing a DJ, so keep up !
Good luck !
