I am very new in this forum, and have only been practising the first step to being lucid (the dream journal and the RC).
And as i was looking at all the different subjects and posts, i saw many people writing “When you recall one dream a night, you can move on to the next step” etc.
Questions:
How long should you have the dream recalls before you attempt one of the techniques?
Is being able to recognise dream symbols a key factor, and do you have to wait until you have found some?
Is there a bulletproof RC? I usually do the holding nose and breathe RC, and try to look at my nose when closing one eye, because these are quite easy to do without anyone else noticing. Are these enough, or should i do more to be sure?
It seems a little odd that you can´t see your nose when youre dreaming… Why is that?
Edit: I didn´t know that “Q” was short for pasQuale
Changed title to “Questions” instead.
You must remember at least one dream a night. There will be times when you cannot recall your dreams but when you are sure you can recall your dreams well, to the point you can remember what happened and well you can remember it you can move on.
Recognising Dream Signs are important because they increase your chances of getting Lucid Dreams. If for example, you notice that many of your dreams take place in your home or around a particular person, Then you can do a RC whenever you are in a close situation as that in your dreams.
You should use at least 2 RC’s at one time. You can increase to more when the situation is more similair to that of a dream
your RC’s work the way you want/expect them to. So if your RC method is to count your fingers and you expect to have more than 10 fingers…then you will do. You must remember your SC is not perfect and therefore doesn’t take care of every single detail.
Hope that helped…If it didnt just wait for more people to respond and they will possibly give you better answers.
You can start right away, at the time of my first LD I could remember like one dream per month.
No, it isn’t, but if you have some good dream signs it can help. So far I have only one real dream sign and it never made me lucid.
There’s no bulletoproof RC, they work differently for different people, my favourite is counting fingers. When you start having lucid dreams you will see what works best for you.
I’ve never noticed my nose (or lack of) but I guess if you try and expect to see it you will.
You should recall about one dream per night. It’s no use to have LD’s if you can’t remember them: it will just discourage you. There are very easy tricks to remember dreams, for instance practising autosuggestion by repeating “Tomorrow, I’ll remember my dreams” when you go to sleep. You should have a look at the “BIG Remembering dreams topic”. With the tips you’ll find there, enhancing dream recall can be done very quickly in about one week.
Not necessarily, yet it depends on the induction technique you plan to use. It’s a great help with RC’s and MILD. Now it’s not really necessary if you practice WILD or autosuggestion. And you can perform RC’s when you see strange things IRL, so that recognising dream signs is not absolutely necessary though it may be really useful.
Two or three good RC’s are generally enough. The holding nose RC is rather efficient. For the moment, you can practise those and you can change them to another RC’s if you see some don’t work in your LD’s.
I don’t know. By the way, this RC didn’t work with me.
