Floating

When I was younger, I remember being very astonished by the things I’d do in my sleep. My parents slept across the hall from me, and when I was terrified of sleeping in my own room, before I’d go to sleep, I’d concentrate on sleeping in between my parents in their bed. The next morning, I’d be awake in their bed, and recall a very vivid image of me floating across the hall. I’m assuming this may just be sleep walking, but do you think it may have been something else? This has happened to me many many times before, too. It wasn’t just a one time occurrence.

Also, before I had nightmares, I would often close my eyes and hear a thudding in the back of my head. I don’t really know how to explain it without sounding insane, but before I’d fall asleep, I’d hear an outrageous pounding, almost as if my brain was warning me of a nightmare, and I would certainly fall asleep and encounter one. My guess is that it’s just going to sleep scared or nervous, focusing on those feelings before bed, and then that triggering a nightmare, but I was just wondering if anybody else has done this before.

That’s really odd, the floating part. There’s not much I can tell you but echoing my personal beliefs which are that through dreams you can change the real world as well.

I have a somewhat related occurrence, though not the head pounding part.

When I was much younger, maybe 11 years ago, every night, I’d go to bed as normal, dream as normal, and then one thing always happened, and made no sense. Right before waking up every morning, I would, in third person, see myself float out of my dream, through my roof, and then immediately fall onto my bed. When my eyes shot open, and first person sight resumed, I’d be bouncing slightly, as if I’d just jumped, or fallen, onto my bed. It happened every morning.

I remember a long time ago being able to look at my ceiling fan, and the circular blur of the blades looked like a slice of lettuce. I’ve never been able to replicate that.

Also I could look at the thermostat while being in bed. When I did that, the air conditioning would sound strange.

I’m not sure if it was a dream or not, but I remember when I was younger waking up inches from the ceiling, and going to sleep moments later. It was a pretty weird experience.

when i was a little younger WHENEVER i slept with my face facing the wall- i would have a nightmare. no if’s or but’s and the closer i slept to the wall, the worse the nightmare would be…

I dunno if this is weird. But if I sleep with no duvet on me (like if I sleep on top of it, or without it) I’m guaranteed to get a nightmare. It’s a problem on really hot nights, but I always have a nightmare with my duvet off.

I had similar experiences too.

I remember when I was younger that I had dreams where I would floating/flying from my parents room down to a kitchen. We have those stairs and I would floating above them down to kitchen. Usually I would be in something white and I would have a pillow in my hands. Sometimes I would fly out through the window in my room but sometimes through the living room.

I never knew why I had those dreams but they were really great, I mean that part where I was flying. And as it seems the flying is still my favorite thing to do while lucid. I guess those dreams had an impact on me…
