You joined in 2008 and now you started lucid dreaming ? That’s… strange.

As an answer to your question: Keep a DJ. There are periods when you remember well, others where you don’t remember a thing. :meh:

well this is the thing i do keep a dream journal
and not being able to be recall my dreams is something thats never happened before
i wonder if its going to be a short term or a long term thing
the plot thickens
or thins
depending on how you look at it

The land of sheep.

There’s an electric tag that says I’m a novice dreamer
But then again maybe not
I don’t think I’m a novice dreamer
Then again déjà vu say what?
Perhaps I am just a novice
Wet behind the zzz’s
Sleeping in a hammock at the bottom of a mountain
Instead of flying around lucidly on top
So I wonder how high is this mountain
will it ever stop
Then if i somehow reach the peak
Whats next
A mighty drop?

Then I’m back to sleeping in my hammock
Way down below the clouds

Beneath my blanket made of stone under comforting
Layers of earthen rock
I take to creating mountains out of wool
Whilst dreamily counting sheep
I yawn
Is there more than just one mountain
There’s more than just one sleep
And if you run and jump across three z’s or more
Do you get to the land of sheep

we are the sheep said in a dream
the plughole of the lucid seas

Sleeping on a far away mountain
Whose only dream is being counted
Whilst being cared for by
shepherdesses made of wool
And right at the foot
Beneath the awakened spirits
Soaring high above the white
Stiches the ragged boy sits creating hammocks
to catch every one that falls.

My dream recall is usually nil, myself. I have read that dreams and recall can be affected by times of great stress or lack of sleep. Or maybe you are trying too hard (may be my own case, I don’t know). Anyway, good luck on regaining your dream recall.

Dream recall can be a touchy thing. Sometimes it’s great, and other times it can vanish without warning. The short answer is make sure you are getting the amount of sleep your body needs at the same time every night, and make sure you are waking up in a dark room and laying still. The long answer is this:
Notes culled from around the dreaming community.

Recall:

  • Keep your environment free from distractions.
    — Keep the room as dark as possible when waking up. Use dark shades or a sleep mask if necessary.
    — Where possible, keep your room as quiet as you can. If you have a loud, obnoxious alarm, trade it in for a quieter one, or if you have an alarm that supports CDs or MP3s (such as a phone or CD/Radio alarm) try using some calm music such as ambient or classical to wake you up. Keep the music as quiet as you can while still guaranteeing that it’ll wake you up. If you have a relative, roomie, or partner that always wakes you up in a disruptive manner (being startled awake is the quickest way to kill recall) flog them mercilessly set your alarm to wake you up earlier than they usually wake you up so that you can wake up gently and have a chance to remember and record your dreams. If you can’t use a noisy alarm clock because you don’t want to wake someone else in the room up, try a vibrating alarm clock.

  • Build a routine conducive to dream recall.
    — Get enough sleep. 8 hours is usually the recommended amount of sleep, but some people may need more or less. Find what is right for you, and get that much sleep each night. Having a sleep deficit can hinder recall efforts.
    — Have a routine. Go to sleep at the same time each night and wake up at the same time each morning.
    — Stay away from heavy meals before bed. Cut back on alcohol, drugs, and smoking, especially before bed.
    — Allow yourself a chance to remember your dreams each morning. Give yourself a chance to lay in bed without moving and remember what you dreamed the previous night. Waking up and immediately rolling over to swat at your alarm clock and running around to get ready for school or work will hinder your chances of remembering anything from the night before. When you wake up, try to move as little as possible while you go over any dreams you had the previous night. Run over them once in your head and then go note them down. If you don’t have time in the mornings, wake yourself up ten or fifteen minutes earlier. More on this later.

  • Specific recall techniques.
    — Before bed and throughout the day, tell yourself “I remember my dreams when I wake up each morning.” For more on this, look up affirmations, auto-suggestion, or the mantras thread in the tutorials section.
    — Keep an audio-recorder or paper dream journal beside your bed. Record your dreams as soon as you wake up from them. Pushing it off until later will cause you to remember less of the dream by the time you finally get around to recording it. If you go to sleep again before then, it may cause the dream to be lost completely.
    — Keep as still as possible when you wake up. The more you move, the less of the dream you are likely to remember.
    — When trying to recall a dream you remember only part of, try going over the dream in reverse. You remember someone getting into a train. Where was he before he boarded? Also, ask questions about the dream. What was he wearing? Was he holding a suitcase? How did he get to the train? Was he in a city? Sometimes, asking questions like these will bring back a little detail that will spark a memory of a part of the dream you’d forgotten about.
I find it difficult sometimes, yesterday morning I had to go through all the sets of people in my life and after about 20 minutes of going through people it clicked and I remembered a dream. My room is a bit light in the morning though, I have blinds instead of curtains and in the hot weather I keep them partially open to let in the cool air.

making sure youve had plenty of sleep is the best thing , and laying still after you wake up. Thats what works for me anyway.
