Frustrated with my last few LDs-Please read!

My firt Lucid dream was awesome, I had no problem with it, but this is what happened with my third LD:

I was in some strange city, no cell-phone, no money, and my mom didn’t know where I was. Awhile later I did a reality check for some reason, discovered I was dreaming, and wound up in a factory, made a huge mess of things, and then when my mom found me, I got into so much trouble for what I did. I was no longer lucid and was so mad at myself for actually thinking that I was dreaming.

My forth LD, I somehow found out I was dreaming, and I wanted so badly to have some fun, but I was afraid that I would get hurt or in trouble, so I just went along with the dream.

Those dreams were very discouraging and im wondering if anybody has any advice, or just comments on this. I would love to hear from you!

Are you sure that you were really lucid and didn’t just dream that you were lucid?

If had similar experiences where I thought I was lucid, but in retrospect when i was awake, I realised that I was just dreaming that I was lucid. It can be quite frustrating, particularly when you are realitively new to lucid dreaming.

Just remember next time you feel that way in a dream that you genuinely are dreaming and that you can “wish” your mother away.

are u scared of doing stupid things in real life thinking that its a dream?

WHEN i do stupid things in real life i often wish it was a dream … But as my eyesight is perfect 20/20 i can tell in real life im not dreaming.

Hi A-dream-within! Welcome to the forum!

It sounds like your lucidity level was pretty low. You realize you’re dreaming, but you don’t really understand what it implies. You have to increase your lucidity level up to the point you will realize you can’t be hurt or in trouble in a dream.

To do that, you can shout something like “Increase lucidity!”. Other techniques may work, like counting in your LD for instance.

No, I'm scared of doing stupid things in dreams, thinking that it could possibly be real life.

im scared of doing things in an LD even when im sure for 2 reasons
1.thinking it could jsut be reallity
2. i dont want to make an as of myself in my dream for example i wouldnt want to embarres myself in the dream even knowing it was going to end

hello A-dream-within

I think Basilus West is right, it was low lucidity. When you have more control you feel more confident and have less doubts in your mind. It’s really important in an ld to expect/believe things will work which is difficult especially if in RL you always expect the worst like i do :help: When I’m lucid I find visualising what I want to happen helps eg. i imagine the door ahead of me will unlock and so it does.

Then you’re not sure…

When you’re unsure, perform a reality check. I had to do a RC recently before jumping from a cliff. My lucidity had decreased in such a manner I was no more sure it was a dream, though I knew it few seconds before! :eh:

Performing a RC generally increases your lucidity, it could be another good trick if your lucidity in low.
