I have had a few LDs although not as regularly as I would like, usually about one every couple of months or so, I have a problem. When I become lucid I often reality check, my usual dream sign is tornados and funnel clouds for some reason, and then demand clarity which “locks in” the dream environment, making it more physical. However, as soon as I achieve clarity all dream characters tend to disappear and I am left in a very vivid, solid environment but one that is eerily quiet and devoid of life. I have done various experiments with inanimate objects in my dreams but am desperate to interract with dream characters. I really want to meet spirit guides and even my higher self. My ex girlfriend used to meet with her “higher self” all the time and he would give her all kinds of advice. She also used to interract with characters and meet spirit guides almost everytime she had a LD or OBE. I have encountered a couple of characters but whenever I try to get information out of them the dream ends. Has anyone else had experiences like this or heard of this? If anyone has any advice I would be extremely grateful.
Welcome to LD4all. The thing that jumps out is that you always DEMAND clarity right away. I would suggest asking to see your spirit guide without worrying about locking in the dream environment … leave that to your subconscious.
Thanks for your reply. That’s interesting. I always demand the clarity because I often don’t feel completely conscious until I do so, it’s like asking for clarity focusses my attention. But, you say “ask to see your spirit guide”. This may sound dumb, but it’s never occured to me to ask that, so should I just ask the dream? Cheers
Oh yes, this happens to me frequently . I’m not sure why, usually when I’m most lucid. Usually I would just will a bunch of DCs to appear so I don’t feel so lonely. I kind of grew out of that phase though. I had the same problem and would think about it a lot, it was expected. Then I just didn’t care anymore and it seems my DCs aren’t disappearing like before. I suggest you don’t focus too heavily on it, and change up your mindset, expect them to be present instead. I have the same issues with my DC haha xD. Most of them are hollows and just go on about rubbish. I hope to encounter a DC who can offer me some insight one day ~ Have a little talk with your SC about your issues with the DC.
The most frustrating part is that on the odd occasion when I have encountered someone who was significant enough to speak to I would get into small talk and then, when I asked something like “tell me something I need to know.” I would get a strong sense that they were about to reveal something really important but just as they were about to speak the dream would start to fade.
That is very frustrating. Have you tried any of those methods of grabbing onto the dream? For instance, once it starts fading you could spin around or even grab onto the dream character you’re speaking to. Usually my dreams end immediately without allowing me to use these methods but sometimes it would fade slowly. My recent experience I commanded the dream to STOP and waited for things to stabilize and told the dream itself to play once again. And just like moogle said, always stablize. But you shouldn’t only do this once in a dream cause after a bit of activity the focus on the dreamscape can change.
Thanks for another great reply. I haven’t tried anything like that while talking to a DC but I have used the spinning technique a couple of times to change my dream environment. It’s been about a month since my last LD but I’ll post here when I have my next one and if I have any luck with any of these methods. Cheers
