Pop-up blocker is a must nowadays. You close one popup and a million more pop up afterward. Damned porn.
With Mozilla Firebird, it blocks all popups by default and if you want them, well you can enable them for specific sites quite easily.
i totally agree! MozillaFirebird is a much better browser than IE this days, both free and much more secure and ontop of that, it includes tabbed browsing and popup blocker.
to those who wants to try it out: https://downloads.mozdev.org/seb/MozillaFirebird-0.7-setup.exe
Your advertising got me. Downloading…
I iwsh i could download that, i hate pop-ups They just piss me off everytime i see them
wowzers i love that tabbed browsing!! I wasnt used to it and I logged off accidentally by closing it (i always close anything i’ve read because i open like 20 windows at once) and lost all my new posts though.
I haven’t gotten around to testing the selectively permeable popup blocker yet.
I feel your pain, especially if you have DSL.
I have 56k so if I hammer Alt+F4 away I can get it all off of me. Once my mom was in the room and I was using yahoo… then BAM 20 windows with the title bars named “free porn” popped up and I got frantic and yeah… bless my 56k.
Hey, where are the new face transplants?! Need… talent…
Why can’t you download it?
I’ve been using Firebird since Christ (a guy I work with) turned me onto it. It has too many advantages over IE to even list, and only a couple of disadvantages (takes an eternity to start up for the first time, and doesn’t display certain pages properly).
If you’re interested, Firebird is the open-source mutation of the discontinued “Mozilla” project, more commonly known as ‘Netscape’. Unable to compete with IE, the Netscape source was released under the GPL license, for anyone to tamper with. One such group destined to build “The browser that works” took the code and made it into a very nice alternative to IE, with various enhancements to make browsing easier. I’d highly recommend giving it a try.
While you’re there, why not replace Outlook with Mozilla’s own SMTP client titled ‘Thunderbird’? It feels good replacing Microsoft applications with considerably better alternatives.
hmm let’s turn this into a Mozilla fan club thread!
er, let’s not. What kind of plugins do you use? I use that Tab enhancer just because it asks me if I really want to close the browser while i’ve got some tabs running! SWEET!
Christ can be a good thing sometimes, Atheist.
No more DNA? >_>
I dont own this computer , and i get restricted for doing anything, i mean anything that changes on here, its my fault if anything goes wrong. So, im just a spectator, but it would be nice to stop those damn pop-ups
