Getting Back Into It

Its been about three years since I tried to lucid dream and I am thinking of getting back into it. I am not too happy with things in my life right now so I believe that lucid dreaming may help.

Last night I tried to WILD but I ended up falling asleep. Then I woke up about five hours later to go to the bathroom. I then thought it would be a good idea to try to WILD again. One big problem I had with that was that I could hear everything in the house. A lot of people in my family wake up early and tend to make noise taking showers, making breakfast, and talking. I also had to keep swallowing and couldn’t get comfortable being in a songle position for more than five minutes. I ended up getting frustrated and gave up.

I really want to lucid dream. More than before and my goal is to lucid dream at will (I know that is an extremely hard task to do but I want to try). Hopefully I will get it. I have only lucid dreamed twice in my life and both were due to me realizing I was in a dream during a normal dream (I kind of realized how absurd it was that I was being chased by raptors and began to lucid dream).

Does anybody have tips for either WILDing or being able to realize I am in a dream easier int the future? Thanks.

hey there, fellow restarter ; )

At the moment Im trying to get back into LDing myself, too. Must be the 4th time or so…

Talking about WILD: It might help if you set your alarm clock to awake you something about 5 to 6 hours after you went to sleep, since it’s easier to slip into a dream then. If you go to bed in the evening and try to WILD its pretty hard since your not going straight to REM. You could also use some earplugs made of wax or PVC to avoid those irritating noises you were talking about.

And as a general advice: autosuggestions always help! (basically that’s MILD)

Hahaha, there are dozens of us, dozens!

I too have been trying to lucid dream again. It’s been about 4 years since I last had one. My thread’s right above yours

Good luck

Thanks guys. One thing that I have noticed for the past three days of keeping my dream journal is that my dreams never really go into any really weird places, at least not yet. They are always at a place that I have been before, like my house, with people that I am usually around. That is one main thing that keeps me from realising that it is a dream. I am do RC all all the time now so that I can start doing them in my dreams. Another thing I was really thinking of getting into was Dream Yoga. I read that you have to realise that everything around you is actually a dream no matter what. I am trying to get into that state of mind now. Another thing that I have realised is that I might not be able to do WILD. Even after setting my alarm for a couple of hours. I try to relax and fall asleep while being aware but I just end up staying awake for hours with nothing happening. Never the less, I wont give up!

Just relax and try not to want it TOO much because apparently then it becomes harder. Just every night tell yourself that it will be the night you manage it, it shouldn’t take you too long if you used to LD before.

For a while I was trying to hard and I stopped having dreams all together. The other day however I felt a strong intention to get back into them. With confidence I said to myself that I will fly in my dreams. Then what do you know? I specifically remember becoming slightly aware that I was dreaming. I said to myself that I would levitate, and all of the action in my dream changed and I consciously made myself levitate. I am starting to understand the deep level of intention needed to become aware and unfold the wings of perception.

When you’re surrounded by a lot of noise, don’t bother trying to do WILD. Instead, just go to sleep like you always do, but try and keep the thought of awareness in your mind. Rather have a normal dream than none at all, right?

I’m totally trying to get back into it too. I just had a lucid dream recently, and the funny thing is, I didn’t even try to that night.
