I have been doing WILD for about the past week using various techniques and ussually being able to experience HI and occasional SP but I need some help getting from these stages to a dream.
Does anyone have any techniques for this problem or any experiences of getting from SP and HI to a LD?
Hi…I consider myself a beggining lucid dreamer aswell… 3 years and counting.
from what i’ve experienced during the years I decided to journey into the realms of consciousness I had before taken for granted… I realized a few things that help me through the day, and also, during the nights.
That is to be patient and have a determined outlook on the years ahed of you, for you worry and frustrate yourself over the smaller insignificant details that are involved in the interesting world of dreams and what you cannot quickly accomplish, you will most likely give up on your aspirations.
WILD for most is usually the method to be strayed from during the first years of your journey, however the curiousity usually can’t be ignored as it is also one of the most fascinating techniques.
Are you using WILD as you fall asleep?..Or after you have woken, or both?
Instead of sticking to one method, why not incorporate techniques from all the available information you can learn into one "self-made’ personal technique…practice makes perfect. Also, everybody is different, and what advice one may offer, might not nessesarely work right away. You need to give your mind time to adapt to the new knowledge it is absorbing.
Usually sufficient relaxation is all the body needs to realise much more quickly that it is time to “shut-off” for the night. Using meditation techniques you can train your mind to fluidly ride through the states of consciousness that lead to deep-sleep and REM.
Focusing on yourself, not your thoughts quickly lowers the brainwave activity as long as you can continue to “feel” yourself going deeper.
remind your brain that it is time to relax, and to sleep. add what ever phrase you want into your mind as it will most definately pick up the suggestion and carry it through, as long as the intention is pure.
More details on your journey so far would help too…
I do WILD every night and after I wake in the WBTB method. I dont use any maditation but that sounds like a good idea. Although your advice is great…
I still need help getting from HI into a dream because I ussually just wake up or my body just has a sudden “jolting” movement and a wake up instantly from that. THe pattern just keeps going and ussually after a while I just decide to fall asleep.
It sounds like you need to relax more while in the trance state, which will enable your brain to realise that you are trying to fall asleep, although consciously.
I have the same troubles, so I cannot offer any advice that will dinately help you, but I can let you know that what you are trying to acheive takes time depending on the induvidual. Meaning that some may naturally be able to shift between the states of consciousness alot easier than others.
I know how infuriating it can be after trying all night, slightly progressing but never actually finishing the task you set for yourself. You can only learn from your mistakes, Count each unsuccessfull try as a mistake, not a failure… Learn from the possibilities and explore your mind deeper with every attempt.
Eventually you will have bridged the gap and you will be smiling in the morning.
When HI appears and your body is feeling slighty numb, imagine yourself on a Train/Plane/Something that moves for you, and gives you the sense of momentum without you physically having to “think” to move, let the imaginative sense drive your body through the HI, take as much attention to the visuals as you would when driving along a road that is familiar to you. You expect what to see, without much fascination and attention you let the objects and images pass you by.
Reality is the barrier inside your mind that is holding you back from slipping into a dream consciously. Letting go from reality step by step, second by second as you being to experience the first states of sleep/trance will act as a guide, driving you deeper into the relaxed state your body/mind needs to shut off its external motor senses and be free.
The “jolt” or current of electrical activity surging through your muscles is normal, and that usually means that the specific area of the twitch is less relaxed than the rest of your body. let it happen, and continue…don’t let it inturrupt.
