I noticed that the last couple of days when i went to bed later than usuall i would have a very hard time remembering any of my dreams. In fact this morning I woke up not remembering one thing. I was just wondering if any of you have had this same problem. Ps i have been keeping a regular Dream Journal.
I don’t think I’ve noticed any difference in dream recall for when I go to bed. But the time I sleep definitely plays a role. More sleep = More recall.
For me, that’s not a rule, but it is a tendency. It starts going downward at past 1am mark, when i usually sleep at midnight. Today was such a case, plenty of WBTB dreams, but bad recall.
I also remember a period in my life a few years back, when i was a noctural owl and was going to sleep at ~5am, with light already outside. I didn’t have many dreams then, and recall was horrendous.
We human beings are just tempered on a 24 cycle with night sleep i guess. Seratonin->Melatonin transformation and all that.
What works for me is, no matter the time, if I wake up say an hour before I have to get up and then go to sleep again directly. It doesn’t take much of you sleeping time and it works great for me even if I don’t get my 7-8 hours of sleep. During that last hour I usually have a great, long, vivid dream that I fully remember, so lately I simply have an alarm clock that goes off an hour before I have to get out.
Sometimes can disturb my DR, but I agree with WASD as long as you get enough sleep your DR shouldn’t be disturb, but that can also depend from person to person. I do have problem if I’m going in bed late, because then I don’t usually sleep longer, and it helps if I have constant schedule of sleep…
