So I went and tried to just go to sleep (and I admit, yes, I tried to LD) in the middle of the day (around 3 PM). I just couldn’t get to sleep. I’m a medium kind of sleeper, so you can always wake me up, but it takes me a while to get to sleep. Usually not more than the 33 minutes of “I am dreaming. I am aware that I am dreaming” I downloaded and burned onto a CD. I honestly listened to that and by the end I wasn’t really wide awake… but I definitely wasn’t asleep either. Should I not try to WILD until later?
you can always do the autosuggestion and then fall asleep by concentrating on your breathing. I have had a hard time falling asleep too and this seemed to work for me. I can’t be the judge of whather you do WILD or not, I don’t know enough to say anything about it. If it helps, then I would say, use it.
I think the idea of any technique is that you have to do it over and over and over and over and over…you can’t just expect it to work after one try or even two or three or four…I have read advice on here that says some people eventually “get it” after weeks or even months of trying a technique.
I’ve been trying the “1 I’m dreaming 2 I’m dreaming…” thing to try to get HI and WILD when I’m falling asleep but it hasn’t worked yet because my problem is that I fall asleep too fast. My goal is to try it every night and I figure eventually I’ll get it but some nights I’m so exhausted I don’t get a chance to try it before I fall asleep and then I forget to do it other nights so my other problem is perseverance. I think motivation is a big problem for me too, I want to be lucid but don’t try hard enough. So learn from my laziness (don’t be lazy) and keep trying and I’m sure you will become lucid sooner or later.
