good results at the wrong time

I was talking to a woman I had just met. I was telling her a story of something that happened recently and ended it with a question. I can’t quite remember what I asked now though. Her reply was, “i’m not sure what the answer to that is… Let’s look it up!”. She had a friend in black robes promptly reach under a table and pull out a rather large, almost obnoxiously large, red leatherbound book with gold-edge pages. The title i recognized was in latin very quickly. I though, now WAIT A MINUTE! i don’t read latin… that’s something i would do in a dream…

And there was my “Ahhh, i see what’s going on here!” moment. Only thing is, it happened during what i expect was a typical stage-1 non-rem microsleep episode; where my thought’s were developing into tiny “dreamlets”. It was as i was going to bed right after i started drifting off. I was passing in and out of conciousness before actually falling completely asleep. The revelation brought what felt like a physical wave of excitement, which increased my heartbeat like a short jolt of adrenaline release. Typical when you start lucid dreaming and have a close-moment, get excited, and wake yourself up

Does this happen to anyone else in the hypnogogic state, rather than an actual dream? I’m taking it as good progress that the fundamental success happened, just at the wrong time  and i think that’s a pretty hefty milestone, so i’m being patient

I read in Stephen Laberge’s book about a subject who was able to carry her consciousness over to NREM sleep, that is by doing WILD right at bed time.

She counted backwards from 100 to maintain her consciousness. At some point through counting (38 if I remember correctly) she was in a dream environment and was lucid. But she couldn’t lift her arms to her eyes so she could do the signal, by looking left and right 4 times.

Or maybe you were in a REM dream, but lost track of time.

I had something like that! I was playing around with phosphenes (the clouds and dots you see soon alfter closing your eyes) during a WILD attempt. At certain mome nt i saw a piece of text (top of the page from some book. text was at 90 degrees to where it should be if i was reading a book. I spotted that got excited and it has gone . I reckon that if you reach that stage few times, you will be calmer and ready to progress. Good luck!
