Had a lucid dream... kinda... had some trouble on the way&gt

Last night I manage to wake up to try some WBTB, anyway I finally managed to do it since the second my head hits the pillow I find myself sitting in a class room at my school reading a book… I don’t realize it at first but I remembered thinking “I was just in my room five minutes ago.” So I start doing reality checks… namely I look at my hands and then read something once before looking away and reading it again. I noticed there was something odd with my hands but heres the problem… the text I read… was exactly the same… word for word… it wasn’t even gibberish… it was perfectly understandable! so I spent the rest of the dream reading a book in a class room thinking that I wasn’t dreaming… Does anyone have any ideas or theories about why the text in my dreams don’t follow dream logic?

I have read books in my dreams before  If you read a piece of text, then look away and back, the text might be the same because you really tried to read it and not just look at it.

I’m no dream expert, so mine is only a guess, but I suppose it’s like MovieMe said. Since you actually attempted to read it and not just take a glance, your mind started working overtime to remember what the text said AND to make it make sense so that you continue to think it’s completely reality. Basically, it saw you were actually READING and made it more realistic.

Facepalms Of coarse… its so simple… great… I’ve been training myself to actually read every sign, t-shirt or bumper sticker I see. Guess I better start retraining myself.

I was using that RC!! It worked once.

i looked at the text, looked away and pictured something else, expected something else to be in the original text’s place. It worked…

In one dream I looked at a word and then looked away and looked back the word was the same, but when I looked away and back again it changed! I think that’s not a reliable RC (same with the hands) to do. What I do is the nose RC, it’s pretty effective

You have to question your dreams more! If you would have fully exepted that you were dreaming then that LD would be Amazing!
But I no how you feel. In the dream everything makes sence cause you are making it. I always upsess over RCs cause most of them never work. And I dont want to start jumping around like a lunitic in Real Life!!! So it is very important to make sure your RCs are good.

Or you could hold your nose and see if you can still breath through it, works every time.

 I use that RC the most

For me the nose test actually failed at least twice  When I did it, I soon felt an urgent need to open my mouth to “catch a breath”. It didn’t felt exactly like in reality though.

For me the hand test worked every time so far - I always have an additional finger

I use it the most aswell  it only faild me once in a dream, only because i had a blocked nose.

When i did the hand RC my hands looked deformed and freaked me out for a while  .

One time I literally had DCs walking over to me and saying “You’re dreaming.” And I still didn’t take the hint…

RC’s don’t work for me, mainly because I don’t remember to do them! I have to train myself…

I never do RC in real life but somehow i do them in dreams.

Ya movieme is probably right, because you tried to read it, your mind didnt change anything. I just do the rc check were i put my hands through things, like a mirror, whacked out stuff always happens when i do that.

maybe the fact that you were in a school made you think that you should read… i dont knwo what else to say

Was it an interesting book. Anyways I do a fun reality check, I walk up to a wall close my eyes and try to stick my hand in it, if I hit something then I do one more reality check, though that only happened twice.
