Today I had a dream where I thought I was lucid, this is the entry from my dream journal;
14/02/2010 (Thank You Dr.Who )
I remember throughout my dream I was singing a tune from doctor who. There was a sort of race. In a race track like place. You had to kill each other I think. There was a ninja with two lightsaber things. It ran round the track at a very fast speed.
There was a stadium place like call of duty where you had to kill each other. The dream changed scence to a purple and green area. There were 2 crystals that were shining on a ‘Y’ shape, one was yellow and the other red but the Y was green… I tried to throw a fireball at these bars that were trapping someone above. I looked at the cyrstals and placed my hands over them to gain awesome power. I then thrown a fireball at the bars and the bars broke. I went inside and I had to crouch. I turned to the purple block with a green cirlce on it.
Lucid: I suddenly said when I am dreaming and then just automatically said I will remember I’m dreaming and then I became lucid. I spun around on my axis, looking at my not so clear reflection in the now part - shiny purple block… I looked at my hand then concentrated. I tried to shoot a fireball out of my hand at a dream character I think was sandra but a yellow or blue flare just came out. I tried to make a sonic screwddriver appear in my hand. I looked at my hand then heard the sound from the tardis. There was the tardis outside.
I went outside and something happened to the ninja. I ended up rolling into a TV, it somehow hurt. I woken up next to a TV or something (False Awakening) and the dream ended.
Ok here are my questions;
why did it hurt when I rolled into the tv
why do I keep having FA after everytime I have an LD (basically is it normal?)
when I wake up in real life it seems as if I think I was not lucid at all because everyone talks about how clear it is and that but I havenot seen it clear like Waking Life.
To be honest I just think all my so called ‘lucid dreams’ are Normal lucid dreams, are they?
Am I or have I ever been close to an LD from the dream journal entry above
6)Why when I am lucid does my Dream suddenly take over me
1- No idea Crazy things happen in dreams!
2- FA’s happen a lot together or close to LD’s. That’s why it’s good to get in the habit of RC’ing everytime you wake up
3- Don’t worry, not all LD’s are clear. I have many LD’s where I can barely see! It’s a matter of practice, I guess, and tricks like shouting “increase clarity!” and you’ll start having clearer LD’s. The thing is LD’s CAN be extremey vivid
4- Well, if you knew you were dreaming, you were lucid. If you said “I’m dreaming!” but didn’t actually realize you were dreaming, there was no click, then it might be a False lucid dream.
5- This is probably due to a low level of lucidity. Sometimes you can be lucid and still fear things, for example. You know you’re dreaming but sort of forget, or don’t understand 100% that anything there can’t hurt you. Focusing your attention on your senses and surroundings should help you stay focused and be more able to see things clearly and chose for yourself how you act.
you mean they are normal dreams? of course. per definition, the only difference between a LD and a ND is that you are aware that you are dreaming. if you want to, you can choose another categorisation that devides fir instance more and less vivid dreams. but lucid dreams are lucid dreams and normal dreams are normal dreams. sometimes the difference is floating (german phrase, don’t know if you say that) but this quote:
It’s not true that you can’t feel pain in dreams. In a dream, if you believe you feel pain, you’ll feel pain. If you don’t, you won’t feel anything. In your dream, you were expecting pain, so that’s what you got. If you had thought that you wouldn’t feel pain, you wouldn’t have.
FA’s happen a lot to some people. It’s perfectly normal. If you do an RC every time you wake up, it’ll help detect FA’s. But, if you don’t like FA’s, doing that can train your body to try to trick you into beleiving you’re awake. Don’t worry about it. If you don’t like FA’s, try not doing a RC right when you wake up. Go about your daily business until you realize something is wrong. Let your body figure it out for itself.
Lucid dreams aren’t always clear. As long as you know you’re dreaming while you’re dreaming, it’s a lucid dream. Your case was definately a lucid dream, so don’t worry. If you want to increase the clarity, as soon as you become lucid, rub your hands together, spin around, and the stop. Snap your fingers and demand “clarity now!”
No, that was definately a lucid dream. Since you remember clearly the moment that you realized you were dreaming (that should be the clearest part, and it should feel like a slight jolt or click), and you said ‘I will remember I’m dreaming’, it was a lucid dream. Congrats! If you’re ever confused about if you had a LD or not, try to remember the exact moment you became lucid.
Close? Yes. Lucid? Definately. You’re having lucid dreams!
That’s probably because you were lucid, but not at a high level. You weren’t thinking as clearly as you normally would in WL. There are a few simple things you can do in a dream to help increase lucidy like:
-Rubbing your hands together
-Looking at your hands
-Spinning
-Falling backwards
-Taking off some clothes (yes, it works, because you’re getting a feel of your body. you don’t have to take them all off, just a sweater or shoes will work)
