Help LD4all - what exactly is VIVID to you?

Hey there,

I got caught in lucid dreaming a couple of weeks ago when I for the first time experienced a lucid dream (not on purpose) for a couple of seconds. It was insane. I found this site, started to read about different methods and stuff, and decided that I was going to learn how to induce LDs. However, my first step in this journey was to increase my dream recall, which seems to be kinda vital in order to succeed with LDing.

Now, i kept a dream journal for about two weeks - I found it really interesting and I came to the understanding that I have pretty good vividness naturally. Then, other stuff came up, and I gave up the dream journal for a couple of days. Yesterday it was exactly two weeks since I had written down any of my dreams, and durings these 14 days Ive dreamt less - or in better words, remembered less dreams. This did not please me and all and i went to bed yesterday with the intention of remembering any dreams I was about to have. I set the alarm to one hour before i usually go up, and fell asleep.

When i woke up this morning I felt dissapointed. I wondered why I hadnt dreamt and why i was thinking about this old memory only to realise when fully awake that this wasnt a memory, this had never happened. Aha. A dream. I thought about it for a while, then it struck me like lightning… you know the feeling when a movie reveals a major plot twist towards the end and you go “O_O” ? This was exactly like that. I realised i did not only remember one dream, i remembered 4. This is more than ive ever remembered and I was kind of amazed.

Now to the question; I want to know if I should start using methods to induce LDs. All these 4 dreams were all about just a couple of minutes long, however i remember them VERY much, i can see everything in detail when i think about them. Faces, expressions, feelings, everything - what i am wondering though is if this is enough “vividness” to begin using methods? Does the dreams need to be longer in order to be called “vivid”? Or is that not essential? As i said, i remember everything that happened perfectly, but only a couple of minutes. I dont know if they were longer…

so, what do you think forum?

Pardon my english, I am from Sweden.

Best,

More than enough vividness!

I never remember faces and expressions

My dreams aren’t even as close as yours and I’ve been LD’ing for 3 years

Go ahead and give LD’ing a try!

Its time for you to try!

And by the way, today i remembered about 7 dreams! Sounds cool nah?

That’s more than enough as said above. I consider my dreams vivid enough (to my liking) if I remember more than just 1 scene; so if there is some story and complexity to it, rather than just some images or feelings of one minute.

And your english is really good :content:
You’d be surprised how many people here do not have english as their native language, even the moderators! Quite a lot of folk from Sweden as well :content:

I believe that doing techniques helps you to remember too. I never saw any really good reason not to start doing techniques right away. Just keep your dream journal active, and your dream recall should improve as you gain experience with the induction techniques. You can always combine LD induction techniques and techniques to recall dreams. Autosuggestion for recall can easily be modified to include the intention to realize you are dreaming. Sort of like “I will realize that I am dreaming, and I will remember my dreams”.

Just for fun, I might as well recommend a piece of Swedish lucid dreaming audio, which you might like to listen to while going to sleep. I don’t remember where I found it. Jörgen Sundvall - Klardrömmar. It is, if nothing else, ironically amusing.

Hi there guys, thank you for your replies!

I’ve started with induction methods now. Been trying with WBTB and damn its tough. I think it would be easier when knowing what to expect - now I just feel like falling asleep again.
