Okay, I just want some help to figure out what WILD is. Is it just when you think about strange imagery (such as your DSs)before you go to sleep, so then when you see them you’;ll become lucid? I’m probably COMPLETEwrong. Anyways, thx.

A WILD is a Wake Induced Lucid Dream.
Its a Lucid Dream that is induced by staying awake until you enter the dream state. At least that’s my definition.
But how do you stay awake until you get to sleep? I don’t know about otjher people, but I stop thinkkign before I get to sleep…I just relax…? How do ya stay awake until you get to sleep, haha?
Thx.
Dee Bee
You don’t stay awake… Not completely anyway.
Your body is going to sleep but you remain concious so that once you start dreaming (usually 90 minutes into the sleep cycle), you can enter the dream, conciously and fully aware that everything around you is a dream.
I think that’s right.
Thanks everyone!!!
EDIT: So to properly do WILD, should I do the whole relax and think of the walking and counting my steps/breathing, or whatever, or should I picture an image such as a rock,…until it appears as I can grab it…?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!!!

Dee Bee,
That is one of many ways to do WILD. There are several different techniques within each technique itself, but I would think WILD has the most since everyone falls asleep a little differently. Currently, I’m trying to find the best way for WILD to work for me.
It all begins with understanding. You need to get to a point where you are aware and able to fully understand what is happening to your body as it begins to fall asleep, because the next and most crucial step is how you react to it.
The first step is relaxation and, like most steps, this can be done several different ways, from counting, to breathing awareness, to imagining walking up or down stairs, and so forth. Do what works best for you.
After this is where I find it gets difficult - too much concentration on counting and whatnot will keep you in that same state for hours! This is where you must understand when it is time to stop and let your thoughts begin to wander, as eventually these wandering thoughts will become vivid wandering imagery and sound, or HH.
Picturing a scene or dreamscape has not proved successful for me, as it keeps me too aware and does not allow for HI to begin. Conversely, it may work perfectly for someone else. Practice! If you lie awake for many hours… it may not work well for you either. Hehe.
And this is where I’m stuck! :-p
I always fear my HI will become an ND so I try to raise my awareness/conciousness level. This is where balance comes in, something I have yet to find, something that only takes practice and nothing else. You must find a balance where you can allow the HI to progress naturally, but still be aware enough to know that you will soon enter a dream and will know it’s a dream, thereby LD-ing. Too much awareness can bring you right back to the beginning, especially if you get excited. Repeat your relaxation exercise and try again.
I hope this helps, and equally important, hope it makes sense. It’s 2:04am right now - I find surfing the LD4ALL boards before I sleep puts me in the perfect mindset for trying out all my new LD/WILD techniques.
Sleep well,
Thank you so much for that info Jacques. I seriously appreciate it.
Good luck with your WILDing!!

P.S: Last night, with my first try at WILD, it worked!!! I lied in my bed, relaxd myself (rubbed my tummy ) then focused on my breathing. I counted the breaths (1…2…3…4…) and then I just kinda dozed off counsiously…hard to explain, but then I saw a lobby, and I stepped into it!! I became lucid! It worked!! My VERY FIRST try!! Woootttt!!!
WOW! That is awesome! Congratulations to you. I am thoroughly impressed you managed to WILD on your first try. That is really cool!
Now then, have you any tips for me?
Sleep well,
Jacques, thanks, but to tell ya the truth it just kinda happened, I wouldn’t be able to give any tips, hahahaha. sorry…

Waw! Congrats Dili Dali!
If WILD could be so easy for me too…
