help with WBTB & i am in REM before i fall asleep.

I wake up after arround 5h of sleep, fill my mind with stuff about LD(as i think it sould be:my body is still tierd and not awake, but my mind is).I start REM while i lay in bed:Almost immediately after i close my eyes(after arround a minute or so)I start to see more Hipnagogic Images:more bright random collors all over my eyes and i start to feel my eyes moving on their own(fast) for a bit but then i get too consentrated on them (i think thats the problem) and they just stop after a second(if i continue to move my eyes fast myself it is still the same)or i get too consentrated on the Hipnagogic Images and they fade away.
Just to let you know for no reason what so ever that i have never expirienced a SP.
I am still new to lucid dreaming so any help would be appreciated!

First of, Hi Gremious :D:D and I have one question for you, are you trying to do a WBTB and then

a) WILD --or-- b) MILD?

If your trying MILD then all you have to do is look/read/think about LD related stuff and then go to sleep, you don’t have to try and keep your mind awake.

Looks like you might not have a good understanding of what REM is. It’s not something you can start, it happens naturally when you go to sleep. REM stands for Random Eye Movement and I don’t know if you did or did not think thats why your eyes were moving but it had nothing to do with it. Your eyes are moving because you are watching the shapes/colors your are seeing. Just relax and try and passivly observe them like your watching TV.

When you got to sleep, you enter a cycle that consist of NREM and REM, REM is were you dream (for the most part). These cycles last about 90 minutes, once you finish a cycle another one starts until and you keep on doing this as long as you sleep. The more cycles that you go through, the longer your REM gets and shorter your NREM gets. That’s why you want to wait 4.5-6 hours after sleep, because your REM is longer. The first cycle you have about 80 minutes of NREM and 10 minutes of REM, so if you go to sleep at 12, at 1:20 you will start dreaming (but not for long). About 4.5 hours after falling asleep you are probabbly in REM for about 20 minutes.

Try waking up earlier, like 4.5 hours or if your feeling dangerous (;p) 3 hours. The key for me is being tired when I do WBTB WILD.

SP… don’t think you asked about it but while I’m typing I’ll write something about it. I don’t know what you have heard about SP but some people hate it, some people love it (like me). You will know when you enter it, you will feel like your vibrating, hear a train going past your ears and possible see images. People don’t like it because they sometimes see bad images when they get it (called old hags). Not having a old hag is all about not expecting it, its a lot like a LD, you get what you expect. Main thing to remember is to have fun

To finish off… try and relax and have a shorter WBTB, it sounds like you might be a little to awake, if your more tired you won’t worry about little things. Don’t focus on stuff to much, just try and go to sleep but staying awake just a little bit. Relaxing my body helps me get into a more tired state, if your interested look up some breathing techniques. The most important thing to do, practice. Just like anything else you need to practice. WILD( Don’t know if that’s what your trying to do now that I look at it…). Any method of trying to LD is all about practice, since no one method works the same for everyone you have to experiment with it till it works for you.

Thank you very much for your replay!well first of i (feel like an idiot and)will try to be more relaxed next time. i’l try wake up a bit earlier, and basicly all the stuff you said(practise and experiment right?). thanks again that realy cleared a lot of questions.

No problem , glad to help.
