This is an easy to follow guide for newbies in LDing, because everyone is different, I provide here essential tips that some pro’s have forgotten.
1.- Reality checks. Because, let’s admit it, when you started the trip that changed your lifes, you usually weren’t able to remember to do Reality Checks.
I know these aren’t the most reliable ones, but they are the easiest ones to remember and they help to adquire an habit.
ESSENTIALS: To make RCs really work, you always have to be perseverant in LDing, to remember that LDing is something that demands attention, and you have to know, that you really have to want to go lucid. I recomend you that you try to do RC when you are in bed and when you awake.
A good trick that really works, is that everytime you do a RC, say to yourself: If this is not a dream, things will go as usual. If something’s wicked, this is a dream.
Remember to always check your enviroment, ask yourself if somethings wrong with it, that will help you to adquire the habit of RCs, and even it will help you to be more analitic.
There are some really easy to remember RC, and those are the ones I will talk about, easy to remember RC, so that when you are used to do them, change to more reliable techniques.
The first and probably the easiest one to remember for everyone, is to have a wirst clock, and everytime you check the hour, check it twice, because in dreams, time is always in constant change.
Another one easy to remember, is that everytime you enter a room, flick the light switch twice, because in dreams light switchs usually doesn’t work.
You don’t have to do them every minute, once an hour will do the thing.
After 2 weeks, when you realize that you do reality checks without thinking on it, you can cganhe to more reliable methods. But also easy ones to remember:
Count yor fingers with your thumb. In reality, you should count 4 fingers (or whatever you have ). This one is basic and really easy to do.
Try to breathe when you trap your nose with your fingers, in reality this is impossible, but in dreams, this usually goes kuku.
Remember these two are just recomendations, you can choose one that you are comfortable with.
- Dream Journals. Because you always want to keep away dreams form reality.
These ones are tips for a newbie to start writing their own DJs:
Keep your dream journal just for you. Don’t show it to other people.
When you awake, just write the basic facts, whthout much details. Wtite like the basic Story guide. After you do that, it’s time to try to remember some details. It doesn’t matter if you cant’ remember much details the first weeks, LDing is all about patience and almost like training your brain.
Don’t be afraid to try to draw your dreams, after all, you have to do whatever is more comfortable for you. Draw symbols, faces or even a little part of the enviroment. If you write, after you write the basics, don’t be afraid to describe the colors, the colthes, the tastes, the smells, everything.
After you have more that 20 dreams, it’s time to write “the list”. In the list you’ll include everything that is common between your dreams or things that are only possible in them, it doesn’t matters if they are just 2 dremas, the common things may appear again. This list is essential because that way it’ll be more easy for you to separate reality from dreams. An example may be: A dead relative. You know that is something that can only happen in dreams, so that way, the next time you dream with a dead relative, you’ll be able to say: Hey, this is a dream.
I’ll continue with my tutorial tomorrow good luck lucid dreamers
