Hi! I'm new.

Hi my name is Tyler. I have never had a LD in my life. I have had one OBE only because I was in a near death experience. Anyways…I have a few concerns. One what is the best way to enter lucidity. On a side note I am afraid of sleep paralysis. Two, I am worried about having hallucinations while in sleep paralysis. Three, I am worried about nightmares occurring in my LD and being unable to stop it from happening. Finally, I am worried about not being able to tell RL from my dreams.I really do want to LD but need some reassurance that it is safe. Any feedback is greatly appreciated and my thanks is given in advance. Thank you for reading and responding!

Welcome to the forum, thoff96. Don’t worry about the hallucinations you get from sleep paralysis. They’re really just harmless. Also, lucid dreaming is 100% safe according to Stephen LaBerge’s book, “Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming”, so feel free to try the lucid dreaming induction methods mentioned in this forum. =D

I had an unexpected SP when I was 16, it was the scariest moment of my life. I can’t even tell what I saw and felt there, but when I woke up, I was like "fung nightmares, glad I woke up" and that’s all, no trauma or anything, just the moment was really scary. Now after some SP’s, those nightmares arent scary anymore, just tell them to f off.

HI, I’m also new here but have been lucid dreaming for around 35 years (with some occasional gaps in activity due to other life events taking precedence). I’m getting back into it now with a renewed vigor and am looking forward to contributing on this fabulous site! I have many 1000s of dreams and well over 500 lucid dreams recorded in my journals. I have conducted courses on the subject and taught 100s of ppl to LD.

I’d like to reassure thoff96 that there is nothing to fear at all. I personally practice to enter sleep paralysis as I find it an excellent launching point for a LD. It’s your own fear that generates a frightening experience in SP. By relaxing into it you can easily have a wonderful LD if you allow yourself. As vbflame suggests, it’s all completely safe. You are scaring yourself by focusing on what might scare or hurt you rather than focusing on the extraordinary experiences that await you. Don’t worry, it’s a natural thing to be afraid of the unknown but you have a good attitude in that you really want to LD so go for it and if you sense any fear, relax and know that the worst thing that can happen is that you will wake up!

I wish you the best in your endeavors and you are in good hands on this site from what I have read so far. There are some very skilled practitioners here, read their posts and take comfort in their knowledge

Since im also new and i found this thread the best to post on instead of making a whole new thread. Could LD be dangerous because, as i’v read it. You need to do RC to understand that you are in a dream or not. But what if you convince yourself just once that when you’re not in a dream that you are? Could this be possible, or does your brain controll it somehow… Sorry for the bad grammar and bad explenation? But im Norwegian… lol
