Hello everyone, im new here, ive been practicing Lucidity for some time, i have succeeded some nights, but im not a very frequent lucid dreamer.
Lately ive been having a problem, and it makes me feel horrible, i tend to suffer of insomnia most of the time which is very frustrating, but the part thats even more frustrating is when i reach the Hypnogogic Stage or Light sleep stage ( i dont know which of the two would be more accurate), it is that stage when you are conscious and aware of your sourroundings, but at the same time your mind is developing strange images.
Lately, during that stage, i tend to start thinking on mathematical/physics procedures and equations, its like im trying to solve something (which partly is nonsense) in my mind, and it bothers me alot, it makes me feel horrible, and im aware of it but i cant do anything to change it.
I usually do some math and physics homework before going to sleep (like yesterday), which i think it could be the cause, but i dont understand why it has such a huge effect at the time of sleeping, or should i say ''trying to sleep"
Has someone been through this? I need help on getting rid of this, im actually scared of going to sleep tonight, it just stresses me so much, and even much more with the fact that i want to have a pleasant good dream of my choice…
this happens to me sometimes, when I’m trying to figure out a problem before sleep, I keep trying to do it during the falling asleep stage and end up doing it nonsensically.
The only thing you can do is to get you mind off of the problem before you go to sleep.
first, welcome to ld4all .
I know exactly what you’re talking about. i lay in bed in this endless, unescapable hypnogogia… it always seems to have a critical/problem solving quality, like my mind is trying to resolve a problem, but usually what i think about makes no sense.
Next time this happens, try this: when you recognize this phenomena, don’t try to get over it by falling asleep. get up. go to the bathroom, get a drink of water, or some short activity that requires wakefulness it does not need to take long, it just needs to get your mind in a fully awake state. when you go back to bed, you should be sufficiently tired. relax your mind while you go back to sleep. don’t try to avoid this half sleep state from happening again. just relax and allow yourself to fully fall asleep.
This usually works for me, and i hope that it can help you too.
Thank you for your suggestion, I will be sure to try it if this comes up again, never occured to me that it was best to fully wake up, relax/drink something and return to sleep, i guess i was sort of ‘‘obsessed’’ in getting as much sleep as possible so i wouldn’t wake up tired the next morning.
yeah, i understand what you’re saying. it always feels as though you can get over it by just falling asleep more, but for me, i have to clear my mind before i can fully fall asleep and get over this feeling.
Yeah its horrible , but I haven’t experienced nothing of this lately! And in fact i’ve remembered most of my dreams, even throughout the entire day! Still, no LD’s yet but I’ll get there, I’m sure of it, its my goal.
