how do I format a dream Journal?

My dream journal is hitting the one-week mark. Of course this is not very long and yes I do plan on contributing to the Journal indefinitely. Thus I think now is a good time to see if I am doing it all wrong/or okay.

  1. How long should my entries be? I typically recall 2 dreams a night writing usually 200 to 250 words a dream so 500 words is a typical night. Any particular details that I should be focusing on?

  2. I am finding it difficult to identify common dream signs. There are lots of things that do not happen in my waking life that happen in my dreams regularly. Some of these recurrences are Guns, Violence, Apocalyptic scenarios and so on. Unfortunately I don’t seem to do any every day stuff that I can use to time a RC. In my dreams I don’t go to work, the toilet, eat or do anything that happens in everyday life. So I have no idea when during the day I should do an RC. Any help?

I would like to close with saying that since my dyslexia makes it preferable to record my dreams on a dictaphone and then write them up on open office I think I am privileged because I am able to digitally archive and examine everything

All replies are appreciated :ok:

There is no optimum length. You should post everything YOU think is important to you. I would say dating and giving every dream some form of title is a good habit to form.

Personally I post enough for me to be able to recall everything from the dream when I read it back.

A week is a short time to discover all your present dream signs.

If you can’t come up with an easy trigger to perform a RC during the day … then you could perform one at regular intervals so it is more likely you will do one ‘out of habit’ in a dream. May be just do a RC whenever you hear or see something violent even in films?
