how do i stop constant False awakenings??!!

After my WBTB I entered the dream fully aware, i was in my bed.
I was stuck in SP but even worse i had a hard time keeping my eyes open.
most of the time i only had my right eye open.

I struggled to move and tried to get up but whenever i made progress i would instantly return back to the sleep position another FA but with full awareness with every transition. it is really hard to describe but i felt like a ghost stuck in a body.

i was really frustrated, i started to yell what the hell is going on, why am i not moving give me control!! even speaking was difficult.

i remember at some point seeing the words in front of me vibrating “just let go”, i felt like it was telling me to give up
and return to sleep and loss the lucidity… which only got me more upset.

I kept struggling for perhaps 30-45mins until i finally was able to move but this time i finally woke up for real.
gah so frustrated right now.

anyone have any thoughts on this?

Couple tips I think that will help:

Start doing RC’s a lot when you go to bed and wake up. If you make it a habit, then in false awakenings you’ll make it a habit as well.

The hard time keeping your eyes open is dream stability. Does it feel like someone is covering 1 eye, and kind of pushing your head to the side / down? Here you need to try some methods to remain lucid. Try to calm yourself, and start rubbing your hands together, touching things, spin in circles, these are all known to really help with stability. I find that doing the nose RC stabilizes my dream as I can feel the air on my upper lip when I do it. I have no idea why, but that seems to work the best for me.

I find when I obtain lucidity, my dream all of a sudden shoots to a different scene / dream, and I almost forget that I’m dreaming. If you find yourself in a FA, it can be really hard to remember you’re dreaming, so keep doing those RC’s.

As for the SP stopping you from moving in a LD, I don’t know. I have never experienced it. It may be a psychological thing you can work out, but I’ll leave that for other people to help you with.

I don’t do any techs that induce SP, so I can’t be of too much help there. I am wondering, if you were in SP were you actually dreaming? Generally that happens right before a dream. If it’s not in-dream, then those false awakenings you’re experiencing are probably you falling asleep for a few seconds and then actually waking up. One thing I’ve heard of to get over SP is to roll out of bed and out of your body, creating an OOB dream. If you are actually dreaming about being in SP, you just need to relax and tell yourself you can move if you want to.

Now, I can be a lot more help on FA’s. I know that whenever I LD, it will almost always transition to an FA almost immediately. The trick is to train yourself to do an RC almost immediately after “waking up,” and to keep your mind active the entire time you feel the dream fade. I prefer rubbing my hands together. Then, no matter how much it feels like I’m awake in bed, I can still feel my dream hands anchoring me into the LD. Of course, with in-dream SP that will be a tad more difficult; but again, it’s a matter of keeping yourself relaxed and telling yourself you can move.

I think the message you got to “let go” probably would have helped you! I don’t think it meant to give up, but to relax. Not just physicly, but mentally/emotionally, or whatever. Not being desperate and trying to force the dream to happen. I bet if you had just stopped and watched and waited, the dream would happen by itself.

In my experience, while entering a dream and inside the dream, any sense of urgency, of “I must do this!” or “why isn’t this working!?” tends to have bad results. Try to feel peace and be calm, passive and confident.

Rathez: yeah i practice RCing often, and within the dream i managed to do a few RCs… the nose RC always works for me, but i remain trapped in my bed, struggling to move. The ghostly sensation is hard to describe, the moment i had my first wake up i tried the Hands RC… i moved my hands towards my sight but couldn’t see them but i could feel them. it was an odd experience sorry if this doesn’t make any sense.

Rhewin: I’m pretty convince i was dreaming because of the constant FA resets i was experiencing. I did actually roll out of my bed i was struggling to get up and when i finally did i experienced another FA and felt the transition whenever it
happen.

mattias: yeah i agree with you, when i reflect on those words i feel like i should of just relaxed, lay there and see what happens. I guess lucid dreaming feels random by chance to me, with all the affirmation and preparation you may still not get a lucid dream
so when i become lucid i want to stabilize and move forward towards my goals as fast as possible, i feel like I’m on a time limit the moment i become aware that i am lucid.

I’m going to try to just take things slowly and try not to panic next time.

Thanks for the comments and support everyone.

I know what you mean, last night I had like 5 FAs in a row. Of course I am fortunate enough for them not to seem real enough because I wake up in someone else’s room. And becoming lucid is what triggers them, I agree with doing RCs everytime you wake up, unless of course you wake up. I’ve gotten to the point when I actually wake up, I don’t move and my eyes are still closed so as to try and get back into a dream quickly.

I do the same Xanthier i have to RC whenever i actually wake up just to be sure =P

I’ve also had trouble with trying to move or entering the dream, I think I forgot to mention that above  I feel it’s just a matter of practice and getting used to it all. Lucid dreaming, in my view at least, is a combination of techniques (or anything you do to get lucid) and mindsets.

I do the same thing! That’s actually what I based my previous post on. I’ve been sort of stuck in having very short and unstable LD’s and I’m now thinking it’s because when I get lucid I expect the dream ot end, so I act as if I had that time limit! It’s a vicious cycle  The shorter the LD the more in a hurry to do stuff I get, making the dream even shorter! I’m going to try to simply enjoy the LD while it lasts… Hmm, a bit off topic, so I’ll stop

FA’s are sometimes good for the dream.

… If you reality check in them.
