How do you stay motivated?

Gah, it’s so frustrating! When people say “when going to sleep, tell your subconscious that you WILL Lucid Dream.” What if you don’t? What if, by telling your subconscious that you will have an LD, you DON’T have one, and you feel you never will :crying:

I really want my second LD, but nothing seems to be working :wallhit:

Well first of all when you use mild or autosuggestion you have to really mean what youre saying, and second I had the same problem. The solution was WILD, if you keep on trying every night and read all the WILD topics on LD4all you will get another LD sooner or later.

Unfortunatelly by thinking this you’re telling your subconscious the exact opposite message!

Thinking in your mind “I WILL Lucid Dream” and feeling this doubt are two opposite things, so they cancel out… And the SC understands emotions and images better than words…

So what do you do? It’s not easy, I know  telling you simply to “believe” doesn’t really help… but understand that speaking to your SC isn’t magic, so it might take a little while for it to have results! If you tell yourself you WILL have a LD and believe it really bad, try to visualize what it’s like to have your second LD. Try to feel how increadible you’ll feel in it as if it’s happening right now! Really expect it to happen, but if it doesn’t, it just didn’t. That doesn’t mean it won’t  Keep trying until it works.

This is called auto-suggestion (or self-hypnosis). Take a look at this. I found it yesterday and it has some good tips. Take a look at the relaxation and reprogramming part too (on the right hand side menu)

I know it’s hard, but too much frustration is counter productive. Try to take it “lightly”, see every experience as a step closer to your next LD!

Good luck

Thanks mattias :cheesy:. Thanks to you to Rubiks! Your suggestions helped ! I’ll try to stay motivated.

I’ve been putting my night’s “highlights” at the end of my DJ posts. Even if I don’t have a LD it forces me to aknowledge the best of the night! Be it an almost lucid moment, or a RC, even if it fails, or some HI, etc.

If you get too frustrated though you can always take a few days off worrying about LD’s (one might just come! )

The strange thing is, the night of my first LD, I never even thought about it. I didn’t try to use MILD or AutoSuggestion. I completely forgot about that and just went to bed, and BOOM first LD… I may try that again .
