I’ve been trying to enter sleep paralysis since I heard about WILD. I’ve done it once (My Experience With WILD post)but I’ve never done it again. How long does it take? Also, I heard you are suppose to stay completely motionless. Well, when I breathe, my stomach kinda inflates or something. Would that ruin entering sleep paralysis?
You might want to read those WILD guides again. First of all, SP isn’t a goal, it’s a phase on your way towards sleep, which means you can stop waiting for it and when it happens you should simply ignore it. Besides that, sometimes you don’t even notice SP at all when WILDing. One of the biggest reasons why WILDing often fails is that people lay down and start waiting for the wicked feelings they’ve read about…waiting for something to happen is the best way to stay awake for hours.
That my-chest-moves-when-breathing-question was a joke right?
I see, thanks for the info.
I have a related question. Usually as I lie down to try WILD, I sometimes feel a pleasent tingling sensation all over my body. Would that be the onset of sleep paralysis? As a note, I don’t really feel like I can’t move, but I just do not want to.
The tingling sensation is just your body being in a deep relaxation state. It means that your body is about to fall asleep.
When you do WILD, don’t really concentrate too much, just try to relax and observe the blackness, which will gradually evolve into HI. Try to forget your IRL body as that will speed the proccess up. Avoid thinking about WILD, SP etc. as that will remind you of your physical body. You will then feel it, and it will be hard to fall asleep.
Don’t put too much attention to SP, don’t “test” it by trying to move. Let it pass, ignore it, and you’ll soon get into a dream.
When watching the HI, watch them like TV. Watch them passively and don’t try to involve yourself too much into them.
Thanks for this! I’ll tell you if it works in my afternoon nap >:)
Should my eyes be open or closed?
You are supposed to fall asleep. I would think closed eyes works best, although I’ve heard that some people are able to fall asleep with eyes open aswell…
The time varies from person to person and also varies depending on how experienced you are with WILD. Averagely, if you’ve awoken after 4-6 hours of sleep, you shold be able to get back to sleep in 5-10 minutes.
Naps are a bit harder to do, since you’re not that tired as in the night. For me it takes around 30-60 minutes to fall asleep during naps.
that would be mermaidman form spongebob
Is it alright to look at the HI and hear the HA, and say(in my head) “OMG THAT’S SO COOL!”
I also would like to know that. And I also have a question!
If I want to have an OBE, what do I do after I get into SP? Most people say “follow the dot with your eye” or “don’t get distracted with the shadow people!” But I don’t see either?
When you get into SP, expect yourself to get out of your body. Try to imagine yourself floating around you IRL body. That will probably result in a OBE.
During SP, our thoughs become hallucinations, which later become dreams. Therefore, if you think about something, you will most likely see it.
I’m most certainly I had HI this morning that was beyond my normal waves of colored light. I saw actually images, and whenever I tried to focus on them, tired to make sure my eyes were closed all the way (they were halfway open) the hallucinations would vanish. I would have to still and ignore it all to get any results.
Now that’s a question ! Even though the answer might seem to be obvious it is not.
I’ve heard a lot of people stating the fact that their eyes won’t close on command, and if they do close them it’s hard to keep them closed. I have experienced this myself, and “Either let them close by themselves or keep them opened”, was my conclusion.
What I’ve tried and proved to have good results was to pretend you are tired. That would be part of my ‘How to fall asleep’. So what do I do if I can’t close my eyes ? I simply half-close them. That way they can stay by themselves, no forcing. With the time the eyelids will seems heavier and heavier until they will close. Very effective for eye-closing-problems.
But then again, that’s only 1% of the whole process.
