i find it that the only times i am able to become lucid, is when something tragic in my dream happens. Before i knew about lucidity, i would often realize im dreaming when a loved one would die or i would kill somebody and simply wakeup startled. since ive learned about lucidity, everytime something tragic happens, i realize im dreaming and take measures to stay lucid.
i know it sounds odd but im looking for ways to induce scary dreams or nightmares.
ive tried watching scary movies but that didnt work. This would help me become lucid much more often.
It can be a bit harder to induce a nightmare since most tend to be created by some form of inner turmoil. But, you could induce a dream with a specific frightening or tragic scenario. Like all forms of induction, go to bed with the intention of having that specific scenario. Concentrate on it and visualize it as you go to sleep. Heck, you could go so far as to adapta MILD mantra for it.
Hey, I used to do this when I was 15 years old. I also knew that I became lucid in nightmares.
My formula that worked 100% of the time to get a night mare would be this:
First I wait until I am so super tired that I feel like I could almost collapse.
It is important that I get the feeling that I will fall asleep immediately when I lay down.
Then I go into the kitchen and start eating a ton food. Anything to fill me up until my stomach can’t take it anymore.
then I go to bed.
Always I would dream that my family turns against me in a rage and violently chase me with weapons to brutally kill me. I am running for my life and dodging there attacks and become lucid in seconds.
It’s not worth it though, because the dreams are so heavy and very hard to start taking control, and I would wake up with a bad stomach ache and not feel rested. It is not healthy to eat and sleep like this.
I did it just to experience lucidity.
But like all short cuts, there is always a catch. And this catch is not good on your body and overall health.
