how to sleep better?

Hello everyone. Yesterday I decided to try lucid dreaming again, my last attemps were unsuccessful, mainly because of my poor sleep. Now I have the same problem. Except weekends, I fall asleep around 12 PM and get up at 6.20 - 6.30 AM. It’s 6,5 hrs of sleep so it should be enough, am I right ? The problem is that when I wake up I don’t remember anything from my dreams as if I don’t even have them. Everyday between my falling asleep and awakening there’s a big black hole. I must get rid of this state and manage to remember 3-4 dreams everynight. Then I can start with normal techniques (WILD, etc.). But how to do it? I can’t sleep longer, so is there any solution? You guys must know. Thanks in advance.

Sup cptprince. LDing isn’t going to take a day a week or a month to master for most people. It is a little time consuming, but it is worth it. Sleep schedule is a big thing, but normally you can’t sleep any later in, but you can go to bed earlier. What is keeping you up to midnight? Is there any way that you could take a nap throughout the day? These are the things that you need to think about. 8+ is recommended to actually feel rested (this is different if you are not healthy, not healthy you will probably always feel tired) you need about 7-8 most nights to start LDing. I can sleep 6 hours a night for a week and my recall will go down, but I can still LD a little bit. Not quite like me sleeping 8 hours a week (like 2 vs 9 LDs a week ). Sleep is essential not just to dream, but to have an active, successful, and non stressful life.

Thanks for response! You really convinced me to sleep more longer. I think on Friday, Saturday, Sunday I can have 8+ hrs of sleep. The rest of the week: around 7.5-8 hrs, so it’s enough. Maybe it’ll help me and improve my mood, because I feel really tired nowadays. The last thing, I would like to know: do you use any affirmations or stuff like that to remember and have more ‘‘clear’’ and vivid dreams? Do you recommend me to keep dream diary, in order to remember them?

Dream journal. Diaries are for women. anyways, I would recommend using your affirmations for LDing. A dream journal needs to be vivid and should have the times you go to sleep and wake up as well as how much stress you have as well as what techniques you used, how much meditation, or LDing reading you did. If you just write down your dreams mindlessly you will slightly raise your dream recall, but if youlook up other recall ttechs and see how they work for you through your DJ (dream journal). A DJ is not just a tool for a LDer, it should be the best tool you have for knowing what techs work for you.

Do they sell a melatonin-rich drink called Neurosleep at your convenience stores or groceries? I’ve heard they’re very effective.

Journal and diary actually mean the same thing. It’s just that the former is French and the latter is Latin. IMO, Latin is manlier than French.

But I call a dream journal a noxary, because jour- and di(es)- both mean “day”.

Yeah, you’re right. I’ll remember: it’s a dream journal  Thanks for your help, you’re a professional in this topic.

Haha. Ellyeve, that is funny. All growing up, people told me that diaries were for girls and since Doug had a journal I figured it made more sense that journal for men, diary for girls. Noxary makes more sense than all, but in LDing circles everyone calls it a Dream journal, so if yar not wanting to explain something every time you say it, it is better to say DJ.

cptprince: I’d advise using a little autosuggestion to boost your recall. Tell yourself as you fall asleep that you’ll remember your dreams, and when you wake up stay still and try to remember.

Now I don’t keep a DJ like Brandon does, with all the extra details. My DJ includes a date and the dream. I believe, though, that you should make the DJ however you’d like it to be. It is going to be YOUR DJ so why not make it be something you’ll like?

And, Brandon, DJ and DD are both used on this forum.
