How to WILD Properly and Effectively

No you’re not doing anything wrong. When your counting gets messed up, it means that you are close to a dream, and your subconscious is trying to take over. Once you have gotten to this stage, counting will become pretty useless, because your mind will just wander off. When you fall asleep normally, you usually daydream before you sleep. To fall asleep in a WILD, it works the same way. Trying to resists the daydreams will get you no where.

So, you ask, what do I do now? Well, if you can’t resist the daydreams, you have to go with them… but not entirely. Let your mind wander, but be aware of what you’re thinking about. When you daydream, always try to incorporate LDing in your daydream. This will help keep you aware until you fall asleep.

truue. i dont attempt it often, maybe twice in all the time ive been interested in LD.
but since i knew what op is saying it came actually quite quickly ( ok ok another dollar )
i just imagined things in my mind, simple things, one was a bow tie and i changed it in all colours.
as i passed into deep levels, it seemed for each i had an involentery (wooah my spelling- screw it) inhale of air… it was instant relaxation. and ofcoarse more and more my thoughs about moving my body became less and less, (the point where you think “if i move this is in jepordy”) then i felt a lift forward, almost into a sorta dream state. three blots of HI came into sight, it came at me like that room in the matrix movie, one large one in front and two smaller on the sides… but the excitement of suddenly getting that far even though ive rarely tried to WILD before, mixed with inexperience, took me some levels behind with a beating heart and sweaty hands lol. i hope i can pass that tonight… just gotta stay level headed and ground myself.

i got to a personal best without WBTB… id love to be lucid every night through this technique… is that possible… i mean i dont see why not. also ill just retry if i fail lol so simpy WOW.

A few quick questions:

How is your throat affected if you don’t swallow for a long time?
This is the hardest part about not swallowing for me, because knowing that my throat is becoming drier and drier feels a bit disgusting and uncomfortable.

Has anyone been able to WILD in a public place?
I tried napping at my local library the other day and I did fall asleep, so theoretically it should be possible to WILD at such places as well, right?

How is your night sleep affected if you WILD several times a day?
Doesn’t this mean that you will sleep much less during the nights?

First of all I have to say that this is only topic/guide where I saw WILD described in that way. I struggled for almost a year because I didn’t know that but I eventually figure it out!

I had the same problem, I was lying in my bad for some time I felt SP and I got to the point where I just became more awake then I was before going to sleep. So after some nights when I got to that crucial point I said to myself: "what would happened if I just let myself to fall asleep now?! :confused: " And I did just that. And I was in LD!

Very simple and very easy to achieve!

  1. You may find on forum most common and most logical answer to that: don’t struggle with swallowing, don’t try not to swallow, just swallow but don’t thing about it like: oh I most swallow, I must, I must! Because that will be greater distraction then actual swallowing. After some time of practice I’ve noticed that I swallow a few times and then I stop swallowing, but sometimes I do but not consciously but more like a muscle twitch, almost like the brain is controlling that…

  2. I’ve never tried that, but I guess if you are able to sleep in public and in noise[but in library shouldn’t be any noise, right :tongue: ] then you can WILD if you find a good time for that!

  3. I only WILD after minimum of 3 hours of sleep… I tried with naps but no luck, I guess I have to much night sleep even to be able to nap, because whenever I tried napping I almost never fall asleep!

Sounds impossible, but is absolutely possible. It’s hard to describe the subtle effort involved until you actually do it, because it’s so unlike anything one does or accomplishes in RL. The cool thing is that it seems the brain is wired for, regardless how impossible it sounds…so really all you have to do is intend to fall asleep while maintaining a thread of awareness. It’s kind of like the Cheap Trick song…“Hold on loosely…but don’t let go”. You just gently, progressively let go…like slowly dissolving into a stream, while at the same time holding onto a modicum of cohesion. LOL…don’t sweat it…it will happen if you gently persist
