Hungry in Dreams

Has anyone else experienced this, i had a dream last night in which my Dad was cooking dinner and said it would be ready in about an hour but I didn’t want to wait that long because i was starving, i wasn’t hungry before i went to bed or when i woke up though

Conjure up some junk food to pass the time!

Wow, now that I think about it I had never tasted in a dream.

And that was last moon’s quest. For most people (i think) just about everything tastes sweet.

I don’t recall any dream where I was hungry, but I do remember eating some cake once in a dream (prior to becoming lucid), it was a very vivid dream. The cake tasted very moist and heavy, like a pound cake, but it was chocolate. Yeah it was sweet, but hey, it’s cake!

Oh yes, I once had this dream with the most amazingly mouthwateringly juicy giant mushroom, and I was SO hungry. Unfortunately it belonged to a paying customer at a restaurant, not me, so I couldn’t eat it. But it was so bad that when I woke up that morning, I had a massive craving for field mushrooms and went out and bought some for dinner that night!

Thats too bad stormy :meh:

Good to see you got some mushrooms though xD

In one of my last LD’s I realized that I am dreaming while getting a pizza. I felt that I am hungry a bit, so I ate it, that was bit weird, because a whole LD I was just doing that one thing  yummy!!

Don’t recall hunger. but about tasting things, I only tried it a few times. The first time i don’t remember. the seacond was some, pastry. It was bland and had a weird texture. I think it’s due to the fact that I wear one of those, things that you put in your mouth to keep you from grinding your teeth, at night. (“Bettskena” in swedish.) But I tried once a few months back, to eat a candy. I think it was good. Sweet, like candy. Red one.

Nah i don’t think i’ve ever tasted in a dream, but i felt hungry that one time…

If I go to sleep hungry, it is almost certain that I will get a dream where eating isn’t allowed, people take food away from me or the food never becomes done. Same thing, if I am thirsty people keep drinks away, etc. Maybe it is a subconscious trick to get past the fact that you are still hungry if you eat in a dream.

its not so much that im hungry im my dreams, i just often get cravings or see something and want it. I dont know if this makes any sense at all, but in those dreams and see a really good looking piece of food and want it really badly, but only because i want it, not because im hungry.
This is kinda weird because in real life i only eat if im hungry.
But anyways ya one time i had a very vivid dream, and in it one of my teachers made me an awesome looking bagel with egg and cheese and ham and stuff, and i was sooo excited to eat it(i dunno why). I took it from him and was just about to take a bite when i woke up. I was soooooo mad. i felt like i had just been robbed or something. But unlike you, s, when i woke up i was actually very hungry.

It’s interesting what you said, CrazyStickFigure – that being just about everything tasting sweet for the majority of dreamers – because whenever my dreams involve food of some sort, the norm is that of cookies, cakes, pies and pastries… the fantasies of children. (In waking life I’m… not so fond.) And I’ve always got this inexplicable craving for them in the dream. Not really when I awaken, though.

My question, however, would be: Is it possible to satiate a “waking hunger” in a dream?

My hypothesis? I’m unsure on the matter. See, my logic is… lust seems satiable through dreams via simulated sex. Such are nocturnal emissions; a sensual climax achieved by the mind only – no physical stimulation required.
But can the same be said for consumption in dreams?
The same can not be said for other such activities. Physical exercise being an example. Although, I’m open to anyone who can prove me wrong on that…

So the question remains; is it possible to satiate hunger in waking life by means of a dream?

Angstyboy, if you find a method of making that work please please pm me!

at least every two nights i wake up in the middle of the night after a terrible dream where i am starving and eat and eat, yet i wake up hungry. Meaning i have to drag myself out of bed and make cereal :bored:

IMO it would prob be possible to get rid of a craving for a particular food or a “peckish feeling” but not true hunger :meh:
(prob ideal for someone on a diet  )

Whenever I dream I’m thirsty, I wake up thirsty. And whenever I drink bottles of stuff in such dreams, I still wake up thirsty. Since there is no actual intake of anything, satiating bodily needs in dreams would seem impossible to me.
Don’t ask me about lucidity and hunger, as they are both things beyond my comprehension.

If I go to bed hungry, my dreams will be about not being able to eat. It will take insanely long to make the food, people will take it away from me, etc. Maybe this is a way to get around the fact that eating in dreams satisfies only our imagination.
