Well, I’ve gotten to the point where I’m lucid 1-2 times a week…it’s pretty nice.
The one thing that I always try to do is fly…but I never can! I’m always jumping or just trying to will myself upward. I just give up eventually though.
What’s going on?
This question isn’t so much about the flying itself as it is about realizing the unreality of dreams…I’ve begun to treat DC’s less like I would in real life (I have no problem with unsolicited sexual advances on them ), but I still have problems with stuff like flying and choosing my locations.
It seems like what I sacrifice in dream control, I get in keeping lucidity (I seem to have no problem staying lucid…last night I was lucid for about an hour in dream time).
Here’s a weird sort of way to do it-- but it works for me most of the time.
I usually have no problem flying (sometimes I even fly when I don’t want to o_o) but when I do have problems, I’ll pick up a rock or something small off the ground then chuck it at the ground.
When it goes down, you go up.
I know it seems strange, and stupid but it works (For me anyways).
Lol cool idea. I am very new to this and had a LD my first night but it was pitch black for 2 secs then i woke up. I heard you may also try to grow wings, or pretend that their are boosts of energy coming from your feet. (Like superman) flying.
I’ve heard that the best solution in cases like yours is to use an alternative to flying. Get wings, a jetpack, boots, whatever. I heard it helps until you get used to it. Or do it like I did once: Use spider-man web spinning powers to swing around the city It’s SO FUN!
Btw, out of curiosity: What do you use to get lucid? WILD?
I am no good at flying controlledly and sometimes have difficulty flying at all. But I remember a breakthrough for me was one time just decided to Do it. Not thikning about how i just ran a bit and jumped. but sort of just lifting. And flew up above the rooftops in a high slow jump. The most exhilirating thing i had ever done in a dream at the time. I landed softly on something. The trick was to not TRY, just do.
You can quote yoda now.
Or you think of yourself as an airplane. Just get a good running start and when you are at your fastest, hold your arms out, and take one big jump and gradually force yourself upwards.
I’d say this. Try to make yourself float in the air. That’s pretty easy, most people can achieve that.
Then, attempt to materialize a flying carpet, or find it behind a door. Fly up with the carpet to a height you like and then use your levitation to build off that
Using some kind of jetpack or wings or something is a great way to get over fears, but as you become more familiar with the lucid state, dream control will come naturally, as you begin to fully realise that there are NO limits.
Flyiyng is my specialty!! I know more than 10 different ways to do it but the easiest ones are air swimming and flapping your arms. Growing wings or transforming into a bird are cooler but more difficult!!
When I was first learning, I found that jumping out of windows was a good way to fly. You just sorta pull up and glide. Birds learn the same way (except they use trees). Better make real sure that you’re dreaming first, though…
In the LD I had about a week and a half ago, it was the first one I’d had in about a year. (Not really trying that hard in that year, but…) I tried simply jumping into the air, but that didn’t work. I was hovering above the ground and willed a neat hoverchair into existance. Didn’t last long though…
My older brother just mentioned a LD he had not that long ago last night and i found it rather funny. He said he went in my backyard and he said he saw new buildings and stuff, but he said he started jumping around trying to fly and he said he couldnt. Then he said as he was trying he started getting the feeling like you are coming down a roller coaster so he said he quit trying. Then he said he tryed to do other stuff like powers and he said he just couldnt do anything, so then he said it was just like RL so he woke HIMself up in the LD. HE WOKE HIM SELF UP!!! He said the LD was a bummer. He mentioned that it was real clear tho, but the thing is he had lots of trouble flying.
Yeah, he said he got bored so he woke himself up on purpose. He said it was just like being awake, he said he couldnt do anything new or special. If it were me i would of robbed a store if i was bored
