I don't sleep, but when I do...

I don’t sleep very often. In fact, as of now, I haven’t slept in 7 days. It’s due to a medical condition that causes my body to make excess energy and leaves me without a need to sleep, or that’s what my doctor told me. I’m not sure that’s the real reason though. I think that it has something to do with the fact that every time I go to sleep and I dream, it’s of something to come. On the boards here it’s called a Pre-cognitive Dream, a vision of what will happen.

Has anyone heard of this happening? Where your body will not be allowed to sleep but when you do something like this happens? I’m not sure if the two are connected in any way but if someone could give me their opinion I would be much appreciative.

Thanks

that makes no sense… because people that don’t sleep, become insane, and eventually die, so what i’m guessing is that you don’t remember your dreams and you’re explaining it wrong(if i’m wrong, could you please give me the name of the condition? because that would be really interesting), because you need sleep for more reasons than only to regain energy, and the list of things that indicate a lack of sleep also includes things that are unrelated to fatigue, some of these include nausea, a sort of wakened REM-like eye movements, hallucinations(i can speak on a personal account here, when i started seeing weird numbers in the grass on a computer game after having been awake for a full night), feeling detached, hyperactivity, psychosis, impatience and irritability, agreed, almost all of these are caused because of the fatigue, but for example hyperactivity seems to suggest the opposite, and psychosis is not so much due to a lack of deep sleep, but due to a lack of REM sleep(so to say: REM keeps you sane, deep sleep keeps you rested)
anyway, if you find the name of the condition you say to have, i’d like to know about it (and i know i said some things twice, but i can’t be bothered to revise the whole post XD)

edit: okay, seems like humans CAN survive for an enormeous amount of time without sleep,

world record non-sleeping, voluntary, with no mental conditions: 264 hours (approximately 11 days)

but rats die after about 28 days without sleep

I don’t know the name of the condition and I’m away from home right now with no way to contact my physician. But it is true that humans can survive without sleep for long periods of time. My record is in fact 11 days. (but the record you read about wasn’t set by me) I wish I could give more information on it, but off hand I don’t know the terminology or anything. As far as the other symptoms, I always feel “detached” or like I’m in a dream-state constantly. And for anything psychotic, I have been declared legally insane and I have DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) but I don’t think that it has anything to do with my sleep habits. Like I said before, I’m open to opinions but trying to tell me what I should be feeling can get a little annoying since I know what I, myself am going through.

That’s very intense. I’ve never heard of anybody with anything like what you describe.

How do you do it?

Is your illness related to insomnia? Like, do you get tired but cant sleep, or just not feel tired.
Has your doctor suggested ways of getting rid of all this ‘excess’ energy you have? For example surely if you dont need sleep for energy and therefore dont sleep, how about burning it off for example running or such-like. This has probably been covered but just a thought.

Also it sounds loopy but if you bleeive you can sleep, you will sleep. If you think you cant then you wont. Simple as. I dont know exactly how it works but it does.
So try AS hard as you can to know you can sleep, (because evidently, its very possible) And i guarantee that WILL make you sleep 100%.

And about the precognitivie dreaming, have you looked it up? They may not be related, you may just get it naturally. Or it may just strengthen your precognitive ability by not getting much sleep, so that when you do sleep all the precognitive dreams come at once, the ones you should have been having spread out through the week.

And just wondering, do you ever get visions whilst awake of a precognitive nature?

Either way i think thats a gift, and your difficulty of sleep (or disorder) can be conquered, no matter what a doctor says, mate. Cause frankly they just know facts and figures. Lifes not all facts and figures.

Sorry for going on abit up there, i hope abit of that helps

How do I do it? I really don’t know myself. It’s not that I don’t want to sleep, it’s that I can’t sleep. My body physically doesn’t allow me to go to sleep. Even if I lay in my bed for hours, lights off, no sound, etc. Nothing will happen, except me getting really bored. Haha. As for ways to exhaust myself, I’ve tried running and exercising and things like that. It doesn’t matter how “exhausted” I get, I will regain the energy in no time. Besides that, I’ve tried medication such as sleeping pills and other things my doctor has given me, they don’t work very well if at all. In way of psychological means, I’ve tried a lot of things like what you told me in your post BlueAndWhite. I mean truthfully, I’m not even trying to “fix” it anymore, I’ve lived with this for about 5 years now and I’m used to it.

As for your question about pre-cognitive dreams or visions while I am awake. I haven’t experienced any that I know of, but if I do I’ll let you know. That would be an interesting thing to experience.

Besides my own experiences with Pre-cogs, have an of you had them? If so maybe you could tell me about your experiences as well. I’ve heard that there are many ways for them to happen so I’m interested to hear other’s experiences. Thanks

I dont really get them as a rule, ive only had one i can remember. That was a few weeks ago.
I was in class and a boy a few desks infront of me was eating some oreos, so i asked him for some cause id never tried them before. He throws them to me.

Afterschool i browse through my DJ, for no real reason - and see a bullet point on one of my dreams

  • Brad throws me oreos.

The boys name who threw me them that day was brad, and he threw them to me. Ive never had an oreo before, so this hasnt happened. I think thats a little spooky.

Of course its nothing interesting xD But still…:content:

Sure it is, anything with a pre-cog is interesting. See what happens with mine is i’ll dream it, and i won’t remember it when i wake up. then a minute or two before it happens it’ll all come back to me and i’ll remember dreaming it. then i’ll proceed to watch it play out exactly as i dreamt it.

thats pretty extreme!

You must have alot of hobbies!!
I believe i have had 2 pre-cog dreams. one of them i cant remember at the moment… but the other… i dreampt that i was making toast and i knocked the vegemite jar off the bench and it smashed.
a couple of hours later, when i was actually making toast, i accidently knocked the vegemite jar quite hard and it went flying across the bench but i caught it mid air, as it was falling to the ground.

I’ve always thought this was a pretty cool experience. I know that i’ve had atleast 1 other pre-cog dream.

i find it strange (well actually i dont, i find it simple minded) that when some people experience de ja vu, they say “i must have drepmt this before”, only because it is familiar to them. I’m not saying that i discount this 100% of the time, but i think its an assumption that alot of people incorrectly make. Just my thoughts on de ja vu.

OMG! that is soooo cool!!! are your dreams always about your life events or the world too? thanks for posting this cool topic

industry is in the business of discrimination so that they can make money off of diagnosis

while many doctors mean well, with the lexicon of society firmly ingrained in their minds, it is an exceptional one who will do something for you that is actually truly helpful in every way

for instance YOU ARE NOT INSANE AND YOU ARE NOT DID

YOUR PERCEPTION IS DIFFERENT,

this is like calling someone names because you don’t agree with their opinion.

for that matter someone who feels like they are in a dream all the time would have an easier time liking or accepting or feeling normal (ii.e. NOT JUDGING) , themselves if they didn’t have some sort of mental “health” industry there to discriminate against them and tell them how to streamline into the category of 'diseased" or “insane” while ignoring any good attributes about their “condition”

for spiritual issues you need spiritual counsel and precognitive dreams and the need to not sleep is most definitely in this area, yet, spiritual counsel requires competency as well,

factually every dream is precognitive however what they indicate is often very trivial and therefore not noticed or understood.
for instance, I am with a Tibetan Lama and we are shooting targets at an amusement park and we both do fairly well, he seems to do slightly better, then he shows me a mudra to use in meditation because he notices the one I currently do does not help my have the “sun” “inside” me,
strangely the mudra is not possible to make the way i made it in the dream, but i can get close to it.
(aiming and hitting targets = concentration )

I also saw where I will be moving to ,
its what dreams are for, our job is to learn how much is metaphor, how much is literal, and how to interpret and learn from them.

Dude…
This is cool(i wouldn’t like it)
I like sleep.
But your advantage is you never tire.
CAN YOU IMAGINE WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH?
Well…When i have a problem i call for God’s help…but that’s just me,a christian.
And i don’t want to start a religeous discussion now.
Back on topic.
As B&W said…you CAN do it.
I know how it feels…when i’m on a train or something,i can’t sleep,but it’s neither because of the motion,n’or sound.
Go running for a long time,or go at some sort of party with your friends.
Then take a hot bath,or a shower.
Then try taking a nice warm pillow,a good clean bedsheet, some comfty pijamas, and just relax.
I know i’m kind of a sleeping noob but that’s just what i would do…
It’s 100% natural,no pills.
And you could try playing with a stress-relief ball, while in bed.
Or read a book.
Or have somebody else read it.
I guess all those tips were pretty useless…
Milk helps,doesn’t it?
But if you don’t want to change this…you could just take advantage of this ability.
If you could train your skills to a point where you could win the olympics…that would be cool.

Well…
One thing is obvious. You’re very special. I wouldn’t take people who call you all sorts of names and give you certain diagnosis too seriously.
Nothing matters if you feel good.
When we sleep, we leave our bodies and go to inner spheres to update our computer.
Surely, your sleep “disorder” is caused by something in the mind to which the body has worked itself. The body is amazing and can survive things beyond our imagination. It’s all a matter of patterns and habits. Going on the Uberman schedule will be very difficult at the beginning but will become more and more comfortable than the normal sleeping routine.
Your mind, for some reason, doesn’t need to update as often as the normal human does. I don’t know what exactly does it make you but it certainly gives you some credit. Ill have to contact an expert with this question. Ill get back to you monday night. Forget every name you are being attuned with right now. Some time into the future, your condition may be considered “the normal one” and ours to be the disorder.
Im guessing you were always like this?
I think using some technique to discover past lives might turn very useful. Like hypnosis or self hypnosis.
How were you as a baby?
This is very intriguing indeed.
Hoping to get some more answer on Monday.
Til then
Enjoy

Some doctors are aware that there is not a diagnosis for every condition, while others will try to put you into a box even if it doesn’t really fit.

I think diagnoses can be helpful up to a point. If you have a problem that falls into a common pattern then an accurate diagnosis can help you to find a useful treatment. It’s not fool proof but it can be very helpful.

It would seem that somewhere in the midst of all that happened back in November and December of 2008, I neglected this board, and I am sorry. It was by chance that I found it again, for some reason i had completely forgotten it was here. Back then at the end of 2008, I was put on medication and seeing a shrink for severe depression. And no it was not due to anything relating to this topic. That entire story aside, I am back on the boards after finding an old email update. Almost as if i wasn’t meant to find it. Hmm… Anyways, I still have this condition I suppose. It’s now at a regular rate of 3 days no sleep, then sleep the following night, and then another 3 without. As some of you have suggested, I’ve put my mind to use during those hours and started doing lots of work. Nothing has really changed at all. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Again, I apologize for my vanishing act. It was not on purpose…

hmmm…i haven’t been on either but i think your condition is really interesting. And i don’t know if it is healthy or not but it is good how your putting the time you don’t sleep into good use.

Yeah, I’ve been checked out and everything and I’m healthy so… Lol. Idk, maybe one day there will be a name for this. Who knows, maybe they’ll name it after me. Hahaha

That’s amazing! So how often do you sleep? And does your Doc think this is ok for you? Have you tried meditation and yoga? These 2 can put many disorders right.

Yes, yoga will definitely help! --especially the breathing exercises.
