A while back I remember having a dream in which I and a bunch of guys were in a transport of some kind heading off for battle. My memory of the dream consists mainly of the emotions. I felt the tension you would feel before a real combat scenario in real life in a non-lucid dream. I woke up and I did a holy crap feeling in my head because I have always been fascinated and terrified by war.
Well… cool, i guess.
" I have always been fascinated and terrified by war."
So did the dream alter the way you feel about war now? Since you have experienced what it would actually feel like.
Speaking of war - related dreams, I had this interesting one where I watched (in dark, bleak vision) some soldiers advancing up a hill. One gets struck by some explosive, his legs get blown off and the stumps catch fire as he tries to crawl away. Then he gets hit again and it’s a mess of body parts and entrails. Just this scene, I think, a dreamlet. Interesting because it’s somewhat different and more violent than my normal exposure to ‘war’ (war games) and because my mind literally seemed to be trying to make it as awful as possible, with the horror movie visuals and implausible gore. Also, it conjured emotions of horror I haven’t really had before. Wish I knew how the dreaming mind decides what to show each night. And why I’m so often a completely passive viewer.
How do you know it really feels the way you felt it?, I mean, how can you tell that those series of emotions are the ones that you have in real life?, have you ever been in combat?, are you in the USA army? or have been?, I’m just curious, cause I guess that one can imagine himself in some situation, but you can’t really feel the same way as if you were there in RL.
