I have never had a good dream. They are all crappy, random, and pointless! Or super uncomfortable and scary! Why?
All of the ld’s that I have had end abruptly, or just won’t allow me to do what i want. Can you actually do WHATEVER YOU WANT In a high level luciditY? I’m confused now. And I don’t even feel like trying anymore cuz it’s so unsatisfactory. Moreover, I don’t want to remember my normal dreams cuz they SUCK! And they’re often scary or uncomfortable… Yet I want to LD (as I have perceived it before in text) so badly. I want to have control, but I"m starting to doubt it even exists beyond the 3 minutes-ish I’ve experienced unless you have a natural affinity for it.
As the people on the chatroom say, If you don’t think you can, or think its hard to do something, then you can’t do it.
Everyone that ive talked to says that you have to know you can do it, to do it. Just remember, you CAN controll your dreams, you CAN make your LD’s last longer, and you CAN use a lightswitch in your dreams.
why not tell yourself that you will have more pleasent dreams?
Don’t let current frustrations ruin what you could enjoy either.
Aside from that, from all that ive read, waking up ubruptly is pretty much the name of the game in dreams.
i’ve had frustrating encounters with lucid dreaming as well. usually on the off-chance i’ll just randomly realize i’m dreaming, but i never act it out. then when i wake up i am excited that i realized i was dreaming, but dissapointed that i didn’t do anything. but the point is to keep in mind that you can only grow from there. if we work at it enough and give it a genuine try, we will do whatever we put our mind to. just keep trying. try out different methods and most of all ask people what helped them out.
My LDs are usually quite short too and I tend to forget what I was supposed to do in the LD. But when I get a high level LD it’s just amazing, my mind is just as clear as IRL and I actually remember what I had planned to do too. And when I get my rare long LDs I’m amazed over how long I can stay in the dream, even if it’s only 5-10 minutes so far. But I’m sure it will improve
For one thing you could try to train yourself to do RCs whenever you are bored or scared, since you say most of your are like that. That’s a great chance to get lucid and if you only get low level LDs that will improve too after a while. And try to remember to yell “increase lucidity now!” in a LD, that works great for me when I remember to do it
I don’t find that the whole “lucidity times 100” thing really works for me… any other suggestions on how to improve it? Saying that does help me to stay lucid, for a while, but doesn’t make the dream clearer or increase my control really.
sureal wonders if he should really repeat this again… sureal decides he may as well…
(feel free to skip this if you’ve already read it once… or twice… a hundred times…)
Take something that looks interessting, and consider how realistic it is. Think of it’s colours and how they blend together, think of the texture and how realistic is is. If you can, touch it and think about that too.
Now, step back and think about how you actually seem to be in there dream. How you are there. Look around yourself - it looks like real life, doesn’t it? Look down at yourself - there you are, just standing there in the middle of a dream. You are no where but in your mind, yet you feel as though your in a real place.
All that takes around five seconds (though the longer you spend on it, the better I guess) and improves your lucidity and vividness a hellavalot. You’ll also find it improves your recall of the dream ocne you’ve woken up (for proof of how much it improves it, look at my DD).
Also, in the LD I find randomly thinking ‘this is a dream’ and taking RC’s keeps your lucidity up.
Wow. Thanks everyone. Believe it or not, I’ve never heard any of this. I guess I been away longer than I thought. I will take these things to heart, and I appreciate no one trashing me for being a whiney little person. ^,^
I like all of those. I never thought of it that way. Although, I feel stupid. I wear two watches, and yet I rarely every do RC’s anymore! haha. Thanks all.
ok, id have to say that dreaming is one of, if not the most important thing you can be doing right now. With the realization taht another reality is real, and possible, comes great understanding. we are are in the most exicting time to be alive, the simple fact taht i can tell you, and everyone else on thsi forum about my dream life is incredible. i feel that if you master the art of dreaming, that many many thigns will be revealed. i see it differently, i ask why is this reality so strange, and “crappy”, random and pointless. Because it’s not real, or not AS real as the dreaming world. It’s well worth the effort to further your dream career.
