I’ve been attempting to have a lucid dream for over a month now (with no luck yet). I kept a dream diary, but it only has 7 dreams on it, so I’m not very good at remembering dreams. I focused on the reality check method (I attempted to WILD a few times), but I’m having some doubts as to whether I’m doing it right. Up until a few days ago, I’ve just been doing random reality checks whenever I remembered it, since I’ve failed to find any re-occuring dream sign. Is this at all effective?
I decided a few days ago to ditch this random reality check method, and instead do reality checks whenever my mood changes, since my dreams tend to be a bit dramatic. But that’s not very often. I do usually fewer than 10 reality checks a day using this method. Is this a better idea than just doing it randomly?
If something could be a sign of my environment being a dream, I make sure to RC. Sometimes I do random ones, but I don’t usually do random RCs. If I RC in a dream, it’s because I think something’s out of place. Lately I’m trying to do it on even small inconsistencies, since I pass over wondering about small inconsistencies sometimes in dreams.
However, there’s still a part of me that misses my DILDs over RCILDs… Because I didn’t know of RCs when I first started LDing. However, there are some dreams where I didn’t think I was dreaming, but an RC proved me wrong. So even if I prefer a good old realization with an RC, RCs are still helpful.
I RC quite often, even when things seem normal. This is because many of my dreams feel like everything is right, even if something is out of place. This, combined with generally being aware of my surroundings, has really helped me the last month or so.
