I just had my first lucid dream.

First time posting on this site and started lurking around 2 days ago. I knew about lucid dreaming a long time ago but decided to pursue it 5 days ago. I read up on all the methods like MILD and WILD and all that. I keep a dream journal and do RC’s and stuff like that too, but I’m gonna get to the point this might be long.

First, I went to sleep at 12 the night before and I took a nap at 8 in the morning today because I was hangin out the night before and so I stayed up late. as im going to sleep I tryed to stay conscious like in WILD (I usually try MILD) and a dream starts to appear 3 times but I got this pit in my stomach every time and it disappeared. On the 4th time It worked and I was consciously in a dream.

I was like “there is no way this is really happening”, so I do a RC and try to breath through my nose while holding it. I did that 3 times and every time I could breath through my nose. I was like “holy crap Im in a dream!”, but calmed down so i didn’t wake up. Im with this dream family and I walk in their house with them and look in the mirror. My face was all distorted and I looked really ugly so I started to laugh at myself.

The second thing I did was try to fly. It took me a few tries but eventually I managed to do it. I would switch between the superman and keeping my hands by my sides and I could go pretty fast. I won’t tell you the rest of my dream because it would be really long but I’ll get to my question.

Is what I did when I went to sleep WILD? I ask because I didn’t feel sleep paralysis or hear weird sounds or anything (I saw HI though) so if it’s not WILD I don’t know what it is I did. The dream was really cool though and im gonna try again tonight.

Sounds like a WILD to me! and a pretty decent one too, specially for your first. You don’t have to necessarily get SP or HI for it to be a WILD. And I know that pit feeling, that’s what makes me fali most of my WILD’s…

my face also looks weird and distorted in mirrors, but it usually scares the crap out of me

and welcome to ld4all, btw

All right then, cool I’m gonna keep trying WILD. Can you do WILD the first time you go to bed or do you have to wake up a few hours later and then do WILD?

It’s a LOT easier to do after you wake up because you are already relaxed and you don’t have to wait as much for REM. As soon as you go to bed you go through a long time of dreamless sleep, so you’d have to lie completely still and conscious for a long time until a dream came.

Yeah I see you on that one, every time I try to have a lucid dream as soon as I go to bed it doesn’t work and I have a ND. Do you or anyone know of any technique that you can use as soon as you go to bed to become lucid?

As far as I know, there isn’t a technique that could induce a lucid dream as soon as in bed. The sleep cycle starts with the N-REM stage and most dreams occur in the REM stage. More importantly, lucid dreams are said to happen very late in the sleep cycle. That’s why if you’re trying WILD ,you usually sleep for 5 hours then wake up, so you’re right in front of the REM stage and can enter a dream quickly whether by WILD, MILD or WBTB. Anyway, congratulations on your lucid dream. Was it your first lucid dream? By the looks of it, it was pretty awesome.

Yeah, that was my first lucid dream and it was awesome lol. I think I’m going to sleep normally like usual, wake up 6 hours later, and then do a mix of MILD and WILD and keep up with that for a few weeks. I hope it works!
