I just saw "Vanella sky"...

I allways thought this movie was just a love story, so I never rented it. It was a good movie. Its kind of slow, but I still liked it. “Waking life” is still my favorite movie. In fact Waking life, is my favorite movie of all.

No disrespect but please…you spelled “Vanilla” incorrectly. Anyway I absolutely love the Concept of the movie “Vanilla Sky” especially since it covers a topic I am most certainly interested in.

Waking Life is definetly better.

vanila sky is a remake of abre los ojos

(my spanish spelling isn’t good)

which most film snobs think is much better, i loved vanilla sky so i might be inclined to see it’s original form.

You know its so cool how the word ojo looks like what it is, looks like two eyes and a nose
Anyways did Vanilla Sky do good when it was in theaters? I know Waking Life wasn’t really noticed…

I think there was much hype about the movie but the subject matter just confused a lot of people.

I saw Vanilla Sky before I saw Abre los Ojos. I have to admit, the original Spanish version is a lot better - a little less confusing.

The character of Penelope Cruz in Vanilla Sky is over emphasised - too much character build up… where in the original she is not as glamorous, so his fascination with her is more dramatic. The main character gets a lot uglier in the original, and there is not all this sub plot about the business he was running with those old men (sorry, it’s been a while since I last saw it!)

But having said that, I do like both of them a lot, each for different reasons and the whole concept is quite inspiring :content:

well i remember a lot of people talked about vanilla sky because of being so weird… (it wasn’t really THAT weird, any movie which explains it’s plot twist to you is not a weird movie, … i mean… you know, it goes to great lengths to confuse, only to spell it out word for word at the end so you feel smart…) it’s an odd movie… it’s “weird” maybe… maybe… but it’s not confusing, it can’t be, they explain too much to you…

HOWEVER it’s one of the best “complex movie for idiots” that i’ve seen… sure the very very very last scene is “confusing” but… anyway…

David Lynch does confusing movies right, he doesn’t give a damn if you understand it, he doesn’t want you to understand it, but nevertheless there IS an explanation, you just have to figure it out on your own.

anyway… i don’t think it really did “well” in theaters but there was a bit of a buzz about it for being so obscure, yet having well known actors in it.

(don’t think i’m belittling vanilla sky here, it’s a fantastic movie, a decent mindf*ck, and i think it is one of the few films i’ve seen where the explanation of what is going on really truly works… i just don’t understand why some people will still say “oohhhh it’s too weird and confusing, OMG!!!1111” when the damn movies explains itself to them if they pay the slightest attention)

I’ve watched vanilla sky like a year ago. I’ve find it very bizarre and odd, but I still like it because of the ld concept. It isn’t hard to understand the whole picture if you’re willing to keep your mind open.

The only thing I hated about vanilla sky is that at the ending when that guy wakes up from his “death.” I wanted to know if his real life has changed because of that! Otherwise it’s a great movie for the audience who is into mental-twisting experience.

I haven’t seen the other version of that… Sounds interesting.

wut was vanilla sky about and when did it get made??

Don’t want to spoil Vanilla Sky. Last time I mentioned some details about a movie, people flipped out. Just search the internet for details. Or send a message to me and I will reply.

I think Vanilla Sky was a pretty interesting movie, but I think all the ideas that are in Waking Life make it a much better movie for the topic of lucid dreaming and such.

Vanilla Sky mentions lucid dreaming, but never really tells you what it is. I watched Vanilla Sky some time before I even knew about lucid dreaming and I just thought it was an interesting name for a company. Never knew lucid dreaming was something real until I stumbled upon this site.

The Waking Life has so much stuff that it offers you to think about. I mean the opening scenes when he is riding with the guy in the car (don’t think this will spoil anything) the guy mentions how what is there, is just there. Even if he doesn’t like it or doesn’t agree with it, it is something.

I think that was kind of setting a tone for the movie. I say that because there is some stuff I really understand and there is some stuff that the movie talked about that I don’t know if I would agree with.

Great movie, but I heard the original “Abre Los Ojos” was much better.

eternal sunshine of a spotless mind… or the spotless mind whatever… good movie

reminds me of mescaline heh

Yes, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was a very good movie. Probably my favorite movie of last year.

I thought Jim Carrey was amazing in Eternal Sunshine…

Halfway into the movie, you kinda forget any other roles he’s ever had - he’s that convincing and he plays his character perfectly.

when did all these movies come out jesus christ i have to pay more attention too the real world
