I had a wierd dream last night. I was at this place and I started talking to this blind lady. She had no eyes just empty sockets that were covered by bandages. She told me,“Don’t be afraid. You are dead, and in the land of the dead.” I then said something kinda like, that reminds me of my dreams. I told her that I can controll my dreams. She said oh really and gave me this grin.(probably because I was dreaming and didn’t realize it)Then my dad rushed in and grabbed me by the arm. He told me that I shouldn’t talk to her, then I woke up. After waking I felt this strange feeling and mood. I kept replaying this dream over and over in my head all day. Later I thought of the movie, Waking Life. It had a girl talking about visiting the land of the dead or something like that.
I couldn’t help but wonder if it was this that caused my dream or if it was something else. What do you think.
woah, spooky dream.
Uh, every idea/concept/character/place/object in your dreams is something you’ve thought about in the day before, even if it was only fro a second or two. so that’s probably it, if you’ve been thinking about the film lately.
It was a crazy dream. The thing is I haven’t talked about that movie for a long time.
I have a theory about this.
OK so we all know that our mind gets influenced by what we see or think about during the day. For example, I saw an old 80’s thriller movie with Malcom Macdowell and Nastazia Kinsky, where they were both half real persons half leopards and they had to eat people so that they could be people again. Now, the whole concept frightened me and it was imprinted in my mind.
The thing is, how can one tell me that I dreamt that a leopard was in my house and I was trying to get rid of it, only because I was influenced from what I had seen 2 days before? MAYBE, the mind only uses fresh material for what it wants to depict. For example, I’ve never watched the Friday 13th series, but I 've watched a Nightmare on Elm Street. When I was little , I had recurring nightmares where Freddie would come into my house. (never saw Jason!) . I am sure that if I HADN’T seen it, I would see something like the flying telephone that kept haunting me in my earlier dreams… The object is only a means of saying something, why should it be different when we have a distinct recollection of the stimulus ?
