I seem to fail at everything in LD's

Ok just four examples of how I fail in LD’s, 1) One time I tried to pull an actual gun out of my pocket and a water gun just came out, 2) I tied swallowing a lucid pill but failed, 3) I tried changing the scenery and failed and 4) Today in my dream I wanted to do a backflip off a van and I did but I wanted to jump over the tennis net, the first time I failed and the second time I did a medium-high jump but never made the distance to make it past the tennis net. I guess what I’m trying to say is how do I actually accomplish (not fail at) things I want to do in lucid dreams. I TrY to believe but every time I try to do something my mind is filled with much doubt .

Just be happy you can LD I havn’t yet, and it’s all about beliving in yourself that you Can do it. Any more advise I will also read. Maybe a dream control program may help. you will probably get linked to that sooner or later.

I would say that it’s important to stay calm.

Maybe for the next few lucid dreams, instead of trying to do various things if they don’t work, why not focus on experiencing new things instead?

When next you become lucid, you can ask the dream to show you something that you need to see. Or you can ask the dream to take you someplace you’ve never seen before. Or you can ask to meet someone interesting. Just don’t be too specific. If you ask for something broad, your subconscious will fill out the rest.

That way, you can learn a little bit more about what it means to be in a lucid dream in a calm manner. In time you’ll feel more comfortable in your lucid dreams and control will follow naturally.

Alternatively, if you really just want to have fun and play around, it may still be a good idea to ask the dream for a guide or another kind of assistance. Perhaps a personal trainer who can teach you some new powers and techniques? That may work.

I could link you to a dream control topic, but I think it’s a good idea to first calm down a little and not focus on doing, but more on participating and letting the dream take you to unexpected places in order to become more comfortable with lucid dreaming in general.

I am not an experianced LDer, but in the few lucid dreams that I do have, I have very good control. It’s actually very easy to obtain control over the dream, but it takes a bit of willpower. You have to believe that what you want will happen, and it will happen.

Now, when I say believe, I do not mean simply trying to convince yourself of what you’re trying to do. Instead, you have to actually believe. This sounds wierd and confusing, I know. But, try this excersice and you’ll see what I mean.

Let’s say you have a lucid dream. Pick a random object. Say… a pencil on a desk. Now, imagine the pencil floating slightly above the desk. At this point, either the pencil will move or it won’t. If it does, good job. If it doesn’t, keep reading.

Don’t focus on the fact that you can’t see the pencil floating in the air, becuase it already is there. Because you said so. End of story. Lose awareness of your vision, because that doesn’t matter. Just know it’s there. Then, snatch it out of the air and right with it. If it’s still not there, keep doing random actions with the pencil, all the while knowing that it’s there. It is there, regardless to what you see or feel. The fact that you can’t see it there is just an illusion created by your mind. It’s a dream, so everything you want to happen will happen.

Don’t wait for it to appear, because it already has appeared. Don’t focus on your vision; focus on what you’re doing with the pencil. Eventually, you’ll look down and see that the pencil is in your hand!

Using this technique, let’s think of what you could’ve done to make your LD go the way you wanted it to.

  1. Instead of giving up, just keep using it as if it were a real gun. Because, in your mind, it would be a real gun.
  2. Not sure what you mean… What wen’t wrong?
  3. Just act like the scenery already did change and do what you would’ve done if it had.
  4. Imagine the scerery flying past you, and when you land, spin once to get your bearings. Then look around, and act as though you were there.

Remember: it’s not about doubt. Doubt doesn’t matter. Neither does convincing yourself. What you have to do is first tell yourself: “This is what’s going to happen. There are no alternate choices.” Then imagine it. Don’t worry about what you see or feel, just tell yourself, “Too bad. It’s already happened. It doesn’t matter if I can see it or not, it’s there!”

As you go about doing what you would do if things were the way you wanted, they will change and go your way!

Good luck!

Moriah had some good advice a little odd to get yourself to think like that when u dream but it realy gives you controll to have confidence and self assurance. I still havent flown so i know how it can be to no achieve a task you want to in a dream. Im just going to go for a swim next time, then once i dive deep lose perception of the water and boom im flying  so u could try and trick yourself as well. i know that when things are hard to controll infront of your (dream) eyes its best to indirectly effect them.

Speaking of flying, the first time I flew with no assistance was about a week ago. I was standing on a building. I wanted to ride a dragon, but I couldn’t manage to summon one. So finally I just jumped and pretended I was riding an invisible dragon, hoping one would appear. Turns out it didn’t but I ended up flying on my own!
