I think this is a problem that alot of people have.

I mean, I certainly used to have it.

I think, that some people get so pumped up and so psyched about lucid dreaming, thsat they put all there energy into it right away. They completely give up all their other hobbies and try to focus all their energy into just a few weeks of practice. Yeah, cause if I do everything imaginable that could ever possibly cause a lucid dream, then I’ll surely get a lucid dream really quickly! It’ll be great.

But then, after three weeks, you inevitably give up a bit, and all your lucid dreaming energy explodes back into your other hobbies, leaving little left spent on lucid dreaming.

Now, after about four months, I too inevitably got tired of the constant techniques everynight, and went to other things, while keep lucid dreaming in the back of my mind. If you’d like to know, I went to other things like Anime and Spring Track (I’m going to be a sprinter).

Anyway, my point is, that over the few months that I completely ignored everything lucid, I realized that you all take this way too seriously, just as I had. You’ve got to relax. I mean, most of you are between 12 and 20-something, let’s say. You’ve got a long time to master this, so let’s not expend all our energy, yah?

PLus, if you never master it and can never get even one lucid dream, then you’ll die and there you go. Lucid dream, you could say, right there, that lasts as long as you like, until you become reincarnated, which happens whenever you like. Unless you believe something different happens when you die, like you go to Heaven or whatever.

Anyway, I’m just saying, relax. You’ve got all the time in the universe. Let’s just say 27 followed by a googolplex zeros.

Girby reccomends 3 hrs of not thinking daily to calm your crazy wants and needs to a manageable state.

I had this problem. I used to juggle lucid dreaming and guitar playing, always doing one more than the other, so that one of my hobbies was always suffering. The key is to make time for both activities and not put all your eggs into one basket

Girby also speaks of himself in the third person

Only when I’m ina good mood and when i’m daydreaming.
Not like there’s anything wrong with it.

Lol, reminds me of Duffman from The Simpsons!

The way I see it, lucid dreaming really shouldn’t take THAT much time out of your day (since you do it in your sleep!). I got kinda “obsessed” in the very beginning, but not so much that I let everything else just waste away. After a while it kinda stabilizes, and stays at a normal level of obsession lol.
I usually save my “obsess-about-LDing-time” for mornings when I wake up from an LD or before I go to bed when I do MILD.

Dream on. // Olesia

Maybe that’s why nothing seems to working for me right now…

That and the fact that I’ve only been into LDing for a couple weeks.

That reminds me of someone I know in real life.

As for this whole problem, at first I was pumped up about lucid dreaming when I first heard of it, but soon after I found this site and simply became addicted to repeatedly coming here instead. It’s ironic how a site about lucid dreaming can temporarily get you distracted from lucid dreaming… :eh:

well i only think about lucid dreaming a bit, i put aside enough time for RCs and DJs and intentions, its really when i hit the bed that all the magic starts happening…other than that im a normal guy

I think just visiting LD4all frequently is enough to give anyone lucid dreams. I made absolutely no attempt to have LDs whatsoever, but I think the idea got lodged in my brain just from being here. In any case, I had 4 LDs after joining with zero effort (well, maybe a little for the 4th). So the moral is, just make sure you hear about LDs a lot in reality and they’ll seep into your dreams eventually anyway!

Er, well, probably. :peek:

I think you have a point to some extent…I burned out, but partially becuase I sucked at having lucid dreams and I hated the whole dream journal aspect. I was into it big time, but now I have trouble even attempting to drag myself to this site, infact I actually hesitate to read articles on sleeps and dreams…it’s like after being into this so long and hardcore, I completely rejected it…then again, I sucked at having LDs…can’t be in a community if you can’t participate in the main activity.

id have to say id agree with every arguement on here i mean really everyone starts out so exited then you get into your slump and kindof forget about it but luckily for me i had an extremly vivid LD during my slump that sent me straight back here

There are only a few things that keep me going to master WILD:
1- I have only had one WILD where I re-entered my dream (WBTB). Although it only happened once, and it lasted about 5 seconds, it keeps me going.
2- my first LD (DILD) in which I flew around a little
3- my friend who I told about LDing. Once in a while he asks me how im doing, and it would be nice to report some good progress to him, so he will take it more seriously (I think he thinks it is too hard to do).

I have been coming here for about a month now and have only had one short LD, but I still find myself very interested in it. Even though I am very ‘obsessed’ as you may put it, I really only spend maybe 20 minutes a day doing anything dream related, which is usually reading a few posts on here before bed. Any other practice/thinking about it is done while I’m in bed, so it doesn’t really bother me so much if I don’t get it right away.

My philosophy is, even if I completely fail at this and nothing ever comes of it, I won’t feel bad since I didn’t waste an excessive amount of time trying to do it.
