I tried WBTB this morning..

And it did not work. It actually made me wake up completely alert. I could not fall back alseep :grrr: . So, I do not think I will try WBTB again.
Also, my dream recall is not getting better at all… I have been trying all different mantras and I have been writing anything that happens before, during and after sleep in my dream journal. Is there a more effective way to improve dream recall? It seems like that part of my brain isn’t activating properly. Maybe some electric shock therapy?

WBTB alone may not be sufficient. It works by setting up the right conditions for having an LD, but you still need a catalyst – a technique, such as WILD or MILD. I personally recommend the SILD technique which I posted a few days ago.

Not being able to fall back asleep after WBTB is very common. You need to find the amount of time to stay awake that’s most appropriate to you. If ou combine with the SILD technique you only need to spend 5-10 minutes staying awake, thus it won’t cause you too much difficulty to fall asleep.

Yes, you should think of WBTB as a “lucid aid” - it doesn’t actually trigger LD’s, it just makes it easier to succeed with MILD, WILD etc.
And you still need to have a natural self-confidence in that you can succeed.

Everything that cosmic.iron said and I would just like to add that every guide you can find on the net is just a pile of a raw information unless you use that information in your own way. Those are just methods and one of the way to use them but you can use them in a million ways. What I’m trying to say is that you will have a much grater success if you adjust technique to your own need and way.

Good luck!

I’m not really sure what my best bet is. I’ve tried MILD and it seems to work. I can almost get through the HS. I know that it is supposed to be the hardest way to LD and that it’s easier to use in conjunction with WBTB, but, I believe it will be the easiest method. I’m already so used to meditation and MILD relates very closely to it.

being used to meditation will indeed help a lot. Keep at it, it just might be the technique for you
