I heard ice-cream helps LD’s

Yeah, they say that dairy products is helpful…
Don’t know myself though.

Icecream contains a lot of milk. Milk contains a lot of tryptophan, a precursor of serotonin and melatonin, both of which are extremely important for the amount and clarity of REM sleep. I don’t know anything about a possible link between tryptophan and LDs though. But if melatonin increases dream length and vividness, it is not unlikely to suggest that this alone facilitates the conditions which lead towards lucidity.

Almost every major source of tryptophan can be used to increase dream vividness: cheese, bananas, fish, milk, …

milk, and i’m guessing therefore other dairy products, contains trace amounts of morphine, which relaxes you and might help you to enter a lucid dream state.
