I'm Back!/Lucidity Schedule

Hey ld4all! It has been a while since I’ve explored you’re ever evolving forums!

First of all, let me give you a background of my quest for lucidity in hopes it will aid anyone who will try and answer my questions.

About 6 months ago, I was on my first quest for lucidity and had some, yet very little success. With one, what I would call, semi-lucid dream I was just starting to explore the possibilities of a lucid dream. Now you may ask, why did I stop?

This is really the root of my post, and my problems. I believe the single limiting factor that will hold me back from achieving my goal of having a decent consistency of lucid dreams is my extreme laziness.

Tonight is the night that I have commanded myself to commit to achieving my goal of having a lucid dream.

Now, my questions are what are/were your strategies that help you stay focused and not lazy when trying to achieve your goal of lucidity? What do you throughout the night that you think ensure you that you are giving your utmost effort?

All helpful answers are welcome, and thank you!

Hey man welcome back! I’ve just recently started the quest for lucidity as well. Unlike you I have somewhat of an addictive personality, and the past week i’ve been pretty well obsessed with having lucid dreams. Constantly doing reality checks, thinking about what technique I’m going to use each night, and what I want to achieve when I get there. The best thing I can tell you to do is read a lot!

Knowledge is power! in this case hopefully will power! haha
Fortunately lucid dreaming is not a strenuous task… physically at least. Another thing is to constantly remind yourself how amazing being able to control your dreams can be. You will be able to fulfill your ultimate fantasies and more! Keep reminding yourself of that and keep the topic on your mind. Make it a daily routine to check these forums and read up on lucid dreaming!

Same is with me.The driving factor is missing .I’m also practising since 6-7 months. The drive is stronger in some weeks and sometimes its nothing.I always set alarm and wake up but I feel sleepy and don’t attempt any sort of technique whatsoever.

PattyMurphy: You’re right before bed from now on I will think of how awesome to would be if I became lucid that night, hopefully this will encourage me enough to want to try a technique when I wake up.

DreamCatcher- This is exactly my problem, i will set my alarm but when I wake up, my want for sleep is greater than my want for lucidity.

Hi and welcome back

In my honest opinion (although every thing already said above is true and I agree) the most important part is to have fun and patience. Learn how to have fun with your ND’s. Write as much as possible in your DJ (or type it out, I get tired of writing so much ), you have NO idea of how fantastic ND’s can be (or maybe you do, I don’t know  ). The best periods of my dreaming life are when I focus on my DR and enjoy my dreams as a whole… to the point where you almost don’t care if you get lucid anymore (I said almost!). This is great, because you’ll keep trying to get a LD but you’ll have a lot of fun even if you don’t (plus remembering your dreams very well can lead to lucidity on it’s own).

One thing I see many people do “wrong” is trying to “force” themselves to get lucid. That wears you out emotionally and you’ll just get frustrated. Not only does stress and frustration make it harder to relax and have a LD it will make you tired/angry over time, which will probably make you distance yourself from it again… Try to enjoy every little step. I see many new people posting topics like “failed WILD, help!” and they say things like “I got HI and SP but couldn’t enter the dream”, but completely ignore how huge of a progress getting those things is! Even if you didn’t get any of the above… if you normally remember 1 dream a night and one day you remember 2 or 3, give yourself a cookie (even though these things usually go up and down  ).

Plus, it’s perfectly natural to take breaks from trying to lucid dream (specailly when other things happen in life and it’s hard to dedicate yourself). I took a 6 month unintentional semi-break (due to too much stress), and when I got back into it I felt all the excitement from when I first found out about LD’ing.

Just take it lightly. I know you’re excited to become a Master Lucid Dreamer (after all, so am I :nuu:), but we have the rest of our lives to perfect this skill. Think about that!
