I'm sure there is a million ones like this...

I know, just like every other nub I’m getting a little to excited, but I just want to make sure I’m on the right track…

Ok, so keep in mind I have only been following this for about a week or two. And about a month ago me and my freind (a fellow Math major at Penn State) were talking about stuff we would like to accomplish. My goal was to “conquer” my dreams, in that I wanted to be able to stay complete conscious in my dreams, because to be honest, almost every night i did the whole “Omg, this is a dream, I’m waking up…” thing, and knew there was more. He was doing a bunch of actual math stuff though. This is where I started studying the whole “lucid”(which I did not know at the time) dream, in that I essentially wanted to conquer this…

So anyways, last night I think I had my first actual lucid dream. I woke up at 7:30am like normal to make it to my Calc 3 class, and then upon returning at 9:00am I decided to try the MILD method, just to see if it would try. Well in my dream, I “woke” up in my bed, and the first thing I tried was the nose RC. Well, needless to say, it worked. All of a sudden, knowing I had this amazing gift laid before me, I felt a rush that was unlike anyother, almost like I knew I could do ANYTHING I wanted, and I mean anything. So I attempted to open my dream eyes, and felt this surge of energy, but upon opening these eyes, I fell into the actual “dreamstate” where I wasn’t lucid.

I wanted to make sure this is kind of the right idea, and I’m on the certain track.

I also wanted to check and see what you guys thought about the whole waking up at 7:30 and going to bed, again, at 9:00 and wondering if that would work. Also, as seeing as I am a Math Major at Penn State and obviously need some stress realiving, what are the effects that drinking has on lucid dreaming. Just wondering. Thanks a lot!

I think you’re much like a natural LDer (something that almost anyone here would really like to be)… and that’s for sure the right road… I mean you already had some lucid dreams (even if they lasted seconds) so the bigger step has been taken, now the problem is that you need some training in keeping both dreams and lucid… try to look in the forum for the words “spinning”, “lucid cola”, “lucid pills”… those could give you the theoric stuff to work on. The advice I could personally give to you is to try not to get excited.

The waking up and getting back to bed thing… try to search on the forums (or the guide) for the string “WBTB”.

Regardin drinking… I think anything inhibiting your Waking Life lucidity will likely inhibit it in your dreams too, but as alwais anyone is different (and it depends from how much you are drinking)… btw just my 2 cents

Good work on lding. Getting the first can sometimes be difficult. Took me three months to get an actual one that lasted, hahaha.

Drinking initially reduces REM kind of drastically if you drink enough, but the longer you sleep, the REM periods become longer than normal, and more intense. That’s why sometimes when people have quite a bit of alcohol, they have intense nightmares.

Ok so I just had another one, almost identical this one. I was in an actual dream and then suddenly i was in my bed and my TV was on (which it was IRL, I fell asleep to it). I did the nose RC twice, the first time I thought I did it wrong, but it sure was working. Anyways, this time I went to sit up, and I was in surreal slow motion, and cracked an eye lid and saw a book shelf next to my bed to the left (which doesn’t exist). So after about 30 seconds and only moving an inch I was like “I’m dreaming, you can most faster…super fast actually” and shot up.

Now here is where my last dream got me. In my last dream I woke up when I tried to open my “dream” eyes, which I couldn’t do and resulted me having a FA and going back into a RD. This time I couldn’t, and was like “OK, it’s just a dream…force them open” and when I forced them open, I only got my right lid up MAYBE half way and I was seeing this wierd white/black/grey extremely fast swirl wiz by my eye, my body started shaking uncontrollably, and I was hearing this insane low-pitched buzzing sound in my mind. I freaked out, but them calmed down, layed back down, and told myself I would wake up and snapped out of it and started typing this…

Any idea what is going on with this one lol. It was sooooo strange. Thanks in advance!

p.s. I think afternoon naps are my key, because they seem to work lol…

Sounds like you were experiencing sleep paralysis. It can be frightening. But I’m a noob to all of this as well.

No, I don’t think it was sleep paralysis, because it was in my dream that my body was shaking and i was hearing that crazy low bas/buzzing noise, and then in my dream I layed back and then woke myself up and i was fine (except a little shaken from the experience lol).

I read somewhere that drinking might effect lucid dreaming (not sure why) same goes with masturbating.

Maybe you dreamt of experiencing SP : the sensations of SP are weakened.

CONGRATZ on your LD. i wish it was that easy for me :ack: keep up the good work.
