Inability to talk in Lucid Dreams

I’m getting WILD more and more, but I keep having an issue with first of all seeing anything, last night, I floated away from my body to a pitch black room, I couldn’t see a thing, I tried forcing my eyes opened with my fingers, but everytime I got them opened, it was blackness. I almost got a vision, of a monitor like vision off in the distance, but couldn’t get it to pull in close… and when I tried to yell out “clarity now” I couldn’t… anyone else experience this? And if so, how can you get past it? It’s almost like my sleep paralysis is in effect in the dream when I attempt to yell.

Moved from General Lucidness. :dragon:

I have this problem alot, ALOT. In any of my dreams i’ve never heard myself talk, and i’ve never been able to… It’s very irritating… because i can’t talk to anyone in my lucid dreams.

I wonder - if it’s blackness could you possibly be aware outside of the REM sleep? I think the Tibetan dreamers call it the Emptiness or something like that. Whatever it’s called, I know their goal is to be aware during dreams and during the blackness around them.

Really? Man… that makes me worry… I want to be able to talk in my dreams. I wonder… since I am dreaming maybe we can communicate with DC telepathically? It might work… but to me… I just don’t see it working if you want to shout out commands to lengthen the dream, or stregnthen the visions.

Wow… that’s real interesting, I didn’t know the Monks actually even had a term for this part of dreaming. Whenever I’m in there, it feels like limbo… and other times, it feels like I’m in heaven, I can “feel” warm light around me as I float… but still cannot see a thing. That night was the first night I actually saw something in the distance… almost like, if I can find a way to get to it, I can sink deeper into my subconcious…

Of course you can use telepathy in dreams. If you want to… You have to want it. If you want it enough anything is possible (in dreams )

I have the same problem with APing where I cant talk. Your not LDing your APing.

Good point jpka159, hahaah…

It’s quite a leap to say somebody is APing based on you having the same problem in what you believe to be an AP. There have been a number of posts about speech being difficult in an LD in the past.

Firstly I would try to stabilise the dream using another method, such as looking at and focusing on an element of the dream. Then you could try to do things that you might do in reality, such as try to cough and expect that to work. The main thing I think is, to expect that when you cough, your voice will return back to normal. Coughing is just an idea that comes to mind, since it should be quick to do. If this doesn’t work for whatever reason, then you could try to un-mute yourself with a remote for example. So long as you expect your voice to return, it should.

Thanks for that tip Green, not too long after that post, I had another succesfull WILD probably the best one yet, and to stabalize the dream and make sure the visuals stuck I began to really study everything, the wrinkles in the blanket, feeling everything near by, looking at my hands it’s crazy how fast the visuals improve as your study something up close. And I noticed although still somewhat limited, I was able to sorta shout out “clarity now” although it was held back, like as if you were able to speak while in SP and someone was to understand you. I’ll definately try that cough technique… just like every other tip I’ve gotten so far, it’s worked, so I’m excited to give it a try.
