Increase Control Broadway Style

I have had mixed success in the past getting my dream characters and dream environment to bend to my will when I become lucid. Sometimes I am able to expect an outcome and it will manifest. Other times, my most focused efforts are met with indifference.

But recently I have discovered a method that gets the attention of all dream characters and really increases the clarity of my lucid dreams as well:

Turn your dream into a Musical!

Being a multi-instrumented musician and singer, I feel I have a very deep contention to music. I hear such incredibly beautiful passages in my dreams that sometimes I wake up with tears in my eyes. So when I was trying to get dream characters to interact with me in a lucid dream and was continually being avoided, I burst into song, a la “West Side Story”.

I started with a stream of conscious melody as it came to me and made the lyrics something like “Hey everyone, come gather round” to get them interested.

To my amazement, I was drawing a crowd around me. Then I began a dialogue with one of the dream characters, still in song. And she sang back to me, expanding on my melody and even rhyming the end of her line with mine. Other exchanges continued and began shaping an entire musical number. Then the other dream characters joined in a chorus of voices and I just felt so incredibly elated! I had them hooked now, so if I wanted something to happen in the lucid dream from this point on, I sang it and it would manifest itself.

This technique has worked wonders when trying to:

Flying higher and faster instead of just that annoying float.
Getting certain dream characters to perform certain acts.
Create objects out of thin air…

I continue to use this method now, since trying to “command” things into existence was failing so miserably for me.

And a huge bonus is these “lucid musicals” end up being much more entertaining, stable, memorable, last longer, and are down right more fun than most of the other lucid dreams I have had before.

I hope some of you may have the same success I have had.

I want to try this

Have you ever watched “The Corpse Bride”? I wanna try those songs

I believe “According to plan” would be especially nice to try.
“It’s a beautiful day!”
“It’s a rather nice day…”
“A day for a glorious wedding!”

And the second part of the song would be very nice too…
“It’s a sad sad state of affairs we’re in”
“That have led us to this ominous wedding!”

Wow , the next time I get an LD I’m going to try this. It sounds hillarious! I can just picture the scene… It reminds me of when my friends and I worked on the lightboard and spotlights at our school play. When we didn’t have to light anything, we would dance around and lip sync the actors. It was incredibly fun.

What an incredibly cool way to dream. A big party, if it goes well you must wake up in euneirophfrenia. (I didn’t think I’d get to use that word so shorlt after learning it.)

A musical! :cool_laugh: Why haven’t I thought of this? Anyone who knows me in real life would be surprised that I haven’t come up with this idea myself, if I were to know anyone who was into lucid dreaming. You see, I’m known by many for singing and dancing like a complete kook. In fact, plenty of people have suggested that I be in a school musical.

But in a lucid dream breaking out into song with loads of dream characters with me sounds like a strapping ol’ time! :yay:

I’d like to give it a try one of these days.

Hahahahaha, ironically, the first lucid dream I ever had was immediately preceded by a musical number with people singing and dancing to The Monkees.

ohhhhh, i LOVE musicals! i’m so gonna try that!

Yes! I’ve done this before! Twice now!

It’s super fun and I recommend everyone try it. You’d be amazed how well you’ll be able to sing and come up with lyrics in a lucid dream! It can be hilarious too, to just be in the center of it all. You wake up in an amazing mood. At least, I did.

Sounds like a neat technique. I remember that when I woke up from my (as of yet) only LD I felt a little like I had been acting in a play. Seems like a logical extension of that feeling.

Definitely would like to try this some time. Thanks for sharing the idea.

That sounds cool!
Whenever I get bored in class I always thought it would be funny if everybody just burst out into song (and I guess I’ve mentioned this to my friends lol).
My dream (oh cool a pun!) is just one LD away!

Wow!, that sounds so awesome
I’m not particularly musically talented myself, but I can be in my dreams , definitely trying this out in my next LD.

Once I get the hang of lucid dreaming, I’ll definitely try this with Grease songs (and High School Musical XD ).

This is a great idea, I can remember only having one dream where I sang a musical number(it was a ND). Not exactly a musical though, more of a humorous back and forth song with a DC (ala brian and stewie on family guy). I remember it putting me in a great mood upon waking up, I can’t wait to try it again.

This is also a way of expanding the mind of your DC’s  Sometimes it might be a bit tricky to get DC’s to interact as if they had a brain of their own, so singing would provide them with their own personality (Sort of)… Right?

I will probably not try this in my next LD cause, ld’s of mine are really rare, so I have alot of other stuff to do be4.

Because your mind works in a musical way your DC’s were able to respond to you musically also. It probably wont work for me but it is worth a try.

I’m definitely going to try this tonight.

Oooohohohoh man…

I’ve always wanted to burst into a musical number during a LD…

I better make that my number one thing to do now.

I know this is a late post compared to the original post date, but I just want to say that that is so beautiful and cool.
I don’t know if it would work for me, but it is defiantly on my list of things to do when I can become more lucid.

definetly gonna due on the town! :boogie:

I love the way you changed the technique to suit you. What a capitol idea… I have a lot of ideas to try now.
