I’d like to propose something to you all. It’s not exactly a game, but it can be as fun or as interesting as one.
First, let me give you a bit of background. I belive that everything we see, read, watch, hear, touch, dream, etc can teach us something, so I’m learning to make the most of each of those experiences, and write down any interesting bit of information I find.
Considering this habit, I’d like to stimulate everyone to write down interesting things as well, in your own notepad, notebooks, .doc file, whatever.
Regardless of using a book/pad/etc, I’d like you guys to write down interesting information on this topic to share with other forum members! It can be information about ANYTHING! Books, TV, music, dreams, biology, physics, math, history, news, how to make something, etc.
I just ask you to avoid book/movie spoilers for obvious reasons
What do you think? I’ll start with something I learned some days ago:
Deus ex Machina in its most pure form is a god on a Machine(crane) which was used a lot to end classic plays in ancient Greek. The god on the machine (hanging on the crane) would usually tell the outro of the story…
edit: clicked the wikipedia link, damn, it said the same ;_;
Geckos, when escaping a predator, or pretty much anything that scares them, can leave behind their tail, and it grows again after a while. So if they’re caught by the tail, they can remove it without harm.
That’s right, but in spoken/informal japanese it’s acceptable to use OVS (it’s used a lot in anime )
ex: sakana o tabemashita, boku wa (fish ate, I)
henna desune, Robin wa (weird, isn’t her? Robin is) → Aaah I love to use anime chars in examples
It’s not perfect according to grammar rules, but as I said, it’s only used for informal situations and with spoken japanese.
