i’m sure everyone has found songs that inspire them. But i’m talking about ones that change your life. I’ve have a rough couple of years and found some songs and bands that have actually sent chills down my spine. and would like to hear of others that have had this same kind of smack in the face.
doesn’t actually have to deal with the actuall intention of the song cause people take what they want from most lyrics. one of those here what you want type of things.
so heres three of mine
Agianst Me! - Tonight we give 35%
Alot of this bands songs have struck me through the hart.
wolfshime - once in a lifetime
against me! - we did it all for don
against me! - 8 full hours of sleep
hot hot heat - This town
Okay yeah lots of against me!. I couldn’t remmember the names of some of the others. Thats the horrors of burned cd’s
Songs that change my life? Yikes, that’s a big one.
I would have to say Sunshine of your Love by cream and Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
One day I was sleeping at my uncles house blasting rap music and my uncle came up stairs, pulled out my speakers and gave me two albums. He said, “listen to these.”
So… I did as he told me, mainly because he was standing right there. I popped in the Cream CD and wow, it was just great. These two bands completely changed me. I used to be one of these kids that would listen to what was popular and dressed in what was considered “cool” by the majority of the population. I changed what I wore, I changed my speech. I didn’t really change them to be honest. What I did was I just quit trying to “fit in.” I used to be one of those little thug kids who always said “dawg, yo, etc.”
I lost about 90% of my friends but kept close ties to the ones I had when I was a young child and when my mind wasn’t corrupted by the media and MTV.
Songs that inspire me, here they are.
Queen - Don’t Stop Me Now
David Bowie - Starman
Pink Floyd - Dogs, Pigs, Sheep… the whole animals album
Led Zeppelin - umm the untitled album
Beatles - While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Doors - The End
Allman Brothers - Jessica
Traffic - Dear Mr. Fantasy
pink floyd - shine on you crazy diamond
paul mccartney - maybe i’m amazed
the beatles - _______________ (fill in the blank with any song)
cream - red wine
black sabbath - (entire self titled album, paranoid, and vol. 4)
george harrison - give me love
frank zappa - apostrophe
john coltrane - giant steps
miles davis - kind of blue
wes montgomery - four on six
oye… the list would go on forevor… this is a broad span of just a few songs… there’s so much more where that came from
The fisrt one that gave me a big change was actually
“Let’s Kick It Up.” That one in the Digimon movie. It was on one of my friends burned CDS and it helped me realize how negative my current favorite band was (Linkin Park) and helped me also realize that music can be optimistic too. I felt much beter listening to that kind of music.
So, I found a new band (Reel Big Fish) which was still quite pessimistic, but with a happier, playful, less-whiney kind of sound.
A long time ago, I listenend to Alanis Morrisette (B’fore Linkin Park) and kind of recently I downloaded some of her stuff. I re-listened to the song “You Learn” and got MEGA Inspired by that one. Made me cry the first couple of times I listened to it.
An now, I listen to Enya. Who almost never fails to inspire me.
All songs that recently that inspired/changed me:
“Return to Innocence” ~Enigma~ <—This one has been a BIG reminder to me of all that I’ve learned about being optimistic, and has helped me allow myself to be exctly who I am.
“Memory of the Trees” ~Enya~
“On My Way Home” ~Enya~ <—“On my way home, I remember, only good days.” More ispiring optimism.
“Gaia” ~Valensia~ <---- This one’s just so damn fun (“BURY US ALL UNDER ICE” as it says in my signature)
“Never Too Late” ~Speerhead~ <----“Never too late, to start the day over”
I think of this song ALL the time and I still get all emotional everytime I play it. It has a deep meaning for me. I’d explain why, but thats a real long story.
wow…that’s hard to name just a couople…every song that I hear inspires me in one way or another. One song that has inspired me is ‘collide’ by howie day, I just see a deeper meaning through all of it. It totally whisks me away to another place… . Sara Mclachlen’s "angel’ is really sad, but it’s inspired me, and I’ve never forgotten it. I can relate to it a lot with my mother. Anotehr big one is Kellly Clarkson’s "moment like this’, it was the song that inspired me to start singing. I thought of me actually fufilling a dream of singing, which is kinda sorta what that song is about. i could go on and on, but I’ll stop now
